Thanks for sharing your experience! My Macan's at 116,928 KM and just had its service last month. Haven't had any DPF problems before this, but it's good to know what I might be dealing with. That price tag for the repair isn't great news, but at least I know what to expect now. Was the repair process quick at your workshop? And did you notice any warning signs before it completely failed? Just trying to figure out if I should get this sorted ASAP or if I've got some time to find the best repair option.
Hey again! Thanks for the follow-up. Yeah, looking at your mileage, it's pretty similar to when I had my DPF issues, mine was around 120,000 KM when everything started going wrong. About the repair time, in my case, the whole thing took about 2 days. They had to order the part and then it was about 6-7 hours of actual work. Not too bad considering the job. But honestly, I wish I'd acted sooner when I first noticed the symptoms. Before it completely failed, I ignored some early warning signs for about 2-3 weeks, started with just occasional black smoke on hard acceleration, then gradually got worse. The engine light started flashing intermittently before staying on permanently. By waiting, I probably made things worse and might have caused more stress to the engine than necessary. My advice? Don't wait like I did. These symptoms are pretty much identical to what I experienced, and delaying it could lead to more expensive repairs. My mechanic said if I'd waited longer, it could've affected other components too. Since the fix, my Cayenne's been running like new for the past year, totally worth getting it sorted quickly. Let me know what you decide to do. There might be some good workshops in your area that specialize in Porsche DPF issues, could be worth checking out.
Thanks so much for all the detailed info! You've definitely convinced me to get this sorted sooner rather than later. I really don't want to risk causing more damage to the engine. I'll call my local Porsche specialist tomorrow morning and get it booked in. The two-day turnaround doesn't sound too bad either, I was worried it might be in the shop for much longer. It's actually really helpful to hear from someone who's been through the exact same thing. I was getting worried about what this might cost, but €1,550 isn't as bad as I was imagining, I was preparing myself for much worse! I'll update the forum once I get it fixed in case anyone else runs into the same problem. Thanks again for taking the time to share your experience. Really appreciate it!
Hey there! I have some experience with cars and went through something very similar with my 2018 Porsche Cayenne Diesel last year. The symptoms were exactly like what you're describing. After dealing with the same issues, I took it to my trusted workshop. They diagnosed a failing DPF and had to replace it entirely as it was internally damaged beyond repair. The whole thing, including labor, set me back about €1,550. Since then, the car's been running perfectly, no more black smoke, power's back, and engine light's gone. Before I share more specific details about my experience, could you tell me your current mileage and whether you've had any previous DPF-related issues? Also, do you keep track of your regeneration cycles?
