DPF & AdBlue Issues Plague Grandland X, Help Needed?

Check engine light on

Warning light in the speedometer of the vehicle

DPF regeneration failure

Hi everyone, having issues with my 2019 Grandland X Diesel. Check engine light is on, DPF won't regenerate, and there's a warning light in the speedometer cluster. I suspect low Ad-Blue system pressure might be the culprit. Has anyone dealt with similar symptoms? Specifically interested in workshop fixes and repair costs. Any insights appreciated. Thanks!

Hey there! I had a similar problem with my 2019 Insignia diesel last year. I have some experience working on cars as a hobby, but this was beyond my DIY skills. My symptoms were exactly like yours, check engine light, DPF issues, and Ad-Blue warning. Turned out the Ad-Blue tank had corroded internally and needed replacement. Took it to my trusted mechanic who fixed it for around €1,620 (parts and labor). What's your mileage and maintenance history? Also, when was the last time you topped up the Ad-Blue? These details would help me give you more specific advice based on my experience.

Thanks for sharing your experience! My mileage is currently at 189502 KM, with the latest service done about three months ago. I regularly top up the Ad-Blue, last time was about six weeks ago. Your Insignia story sounds very similar to what I'm experiencing. That repair cost is quite steep though, was hoping it wouldn't come to that! Did your mechanic mention any warning signs to look out for? I'm wondering if I could catch any issues early before they get worse. Really appreciate your input on this! Cheers!

Hey again! Yeah, I totally get your concern about the repair costs, it wasn't a fun bill to pay! With your mileage being similar to what mine was (I was at around 185000 KM when it happened), it's definitely worth checking the Ad-Blue system thoroughly. Actually, thinking back, my mechanic did point out some early warning signs I missed. Before the full-blown failure, I noticed the Ad-Blue consumption had increased quite a bit, I was refilling more frequently than usual. Also had some occasional rough idling, especially on cold mornings. Did you notice anything like that? One thing I learned from my experience, don't wait too long if you're seeing these symptoms. I tried to push through it for a few weeks, and that probably made things worse. The corrosion in my tank spread to the pump system, which added to the final cost. If I'd taken it in earlier, might have saved a few hundred Euro. Have you noticed any unusual Ad-Blue consumption patterns? Also, does your engine feel different when accelerating? These were subtle signs I picked up on my Insignia before everything went south. Keep me posted on what you find out!

Thanks so much for all that detailed information, it's really helpful! Come to think of it, I have noticed I'm using more Ad-Blue than usual lately, and there is a slight hesitation when accelerating, especially in the mornings. After hearing your experience, I think I'd better get it checked out sooner rather than later. Don't want to risk more damage to the system like what happened with your Insignia! I've just called my local mechanic and booked it in for next Tuesday. Better to bite the bullet now than face bigger repairs later, even though I'm not thrilled about the potential cost. I'll let you know what they find once they've had a look at it. Thanks again for sharing your experience, it's definitely helped me make a decision on this! Cheers!
