Discussion on Troubleshooting 2020 Lexus GX Wiper and Headlight Cleaning System Issues

Headlight cleaning system without function

Wipers don't work properly

Hey! I've got a bit of a head-scratcher with my 2020 Lexus GX. Lately, the wipers have been acting up and the headlight cleaning system just seems to have given up. I'm suspecting the windshield wiper switch might be the culprit, but I'm open to suggestions. Has anyone else run into these issues, and if so, how did your mechanic solve them? Cheers for any advice or experiences you could share!

Hey there, I run into a similar pickle with my 2018 Lexus LX a while back. From the sound of it, you might be dealing with a Steering column switch cable connection issue. It's not my first rodeo with cars but I would still say I have some experience. To tackle this, I took my Lexus to my local workshop. After a bit of head-scratching, the ace mechanic pinpointed the problem to the steering column switch cable connection. It was defective and hence messing with my wipers and lights. Took about 155 Euro to replace and rewire it, but it fixed the issue for me completely! By the way, you didn’t mention: did you notice any other weird behavior with the steering or anything else electrical? The more info you share, the more we can help each other out! All the best.

Hi there! Thanks for sharing your experience! That really gives me a solid lead to look into. To answer your question, I haven't noticed anything weird with the steering or other electrical components. All seems well there. And to top it off, I treated my Lexus GX to its latest service pretty recently, just at about 10998 KM mark. So, my car's still pretty new, but you know, things happen. Keeping my fingers crossed that it's just the steering column switch cable connection like yours. I'll share the word once I have this checked out by my mechanic. Again, cheers for the advice!

Hey! Glad to hear my previous post could give you some direction! From your description, it certainly sounds like your Lexus GX is in good nick otherwise. Just that pesky problem with the wipers and cleaning system, right? Given your car's recent service and since you haven't spotted any other issues, I'm willing to bet it could indeed be something as straightforward as the steering column switch cable connection. Although I gotta say, it's a bit of a bummer to run into such an issue so early in the car's life! Anyway, keep us posted after your mechanic's visit and feel free to share any new insights or questions. I'm sure the community here would value it. Good luck and hope your ride's back to its full glory soon!

What a relief to hear that! I really appreciate all your insights and although it is quite a nuisance to have such a problem with a relatively new car, your optimism does make it seem less daunting. I will absolutely keep you and everyone else updated after I've taken my Lexus to the mechanic. Might as well share any new info that could be useful to others in the future right? Thanks again for the help you're a lifesaver! Fingers crossed my Lexus will be back to its old self soon.

Let our mechanics help you!
