Hey buddy, I had a similar problem with my 2013 diesel Mercedes GL Class. Has a bit more miles on it, but the symptoms were similar. Turns out it was due to sporadic faulty communication between the ECUs! I actually had to go to the garage last time to fix it. They had to diagnose it, read out the faults and then take the necessary steps to fix it. It was necessary to first identify the ECUs that were causing the fault. Then the software had to be updated. In some cases, a malfunction in the hardware could be the cause, in which case the faulty part would have to be replaced. It was a bit serious, I have to admit, but nothing the mechanic couldn't fix. It was a lot of work but now my car is running smoothly, hope I could help you!
