Discussing Solutions for Dimming Lights and Warning Signs Issues on 2009 Nissan Crew with Gasoline Engine

Warning light in the speedometer of the vehicle

Dim or flickering lights

Hey folks, I've got a quirky problem with my 2009 Nissan Crew running on a Gasoline engine. Recently, I've seen some issues like dimming lights and a warning sign popping up on my speedometer. I've got this hunch it could be a bug in the vehicle's software, but wanted to hear from your experiences. Have any of you had a similar issue? If so, how did your workshop handle the fix and what was it like? Any pointers would be much appreciated. Cheers!

Hey, actually, I had a very similar experience with my 2007 Nissan Quest, talk about deja vu eh? Now I wouldn't call myself an auto-guru, and my car knowledge sits somewhere around "some experience" but I remember it pretty vividly. My local workshop hooked me up with a new Engine Control Unit (ECU), because the previous one kicked the bucket. However, it wasn't programmed right to my vehicle which caused me some trouble initially. All in all, it set me back about 240 Euro which isn't the worst considering it sorted the problem. But, just a heads up, getting the ECU wrongly programmed is a pretty common snag. Mine was sorted on my second trip to the workshop. Could you tell me more about your car? Like, is it a manual or automatic transmission? And roughly how many kilometers you've put on it? The more info I have, the more I might be able to help you troubleshoot. Cheers!

Hey there! Wow, thanks for the quick reply and sharing your experience. That definitely sounds close to what I am experiencing. My Nissan Crew is an automatic transmission and she's been on the road for about 93802 KM now. As you suggested, I'll check about the ECU thing with my local mechanic tomorrow and make sure they get it programmed right if that's the issue. Money well spent, if it resolves my problem! I'll pop back with an update once I have one. Cheers!

No worries, glad I could help! With the mileage you've put on it, an ECU problem could indeed be the culprit. Keep an eye out for any engine stalling too, as that could be an indicator. Like I said, make sure the people at the workshop program it correctly to your car, and hopefully, that will sort out your issues. I'll watch out for your update, and fingers crossed it's an easy fix. Let me know if there's anything else you're curious about. We're all in this together, eh? Good luck with it!

I feel much better going into the workshop tomorrow with some knowledge on my side. I'll definitely be back to update you once I've spoken with the mechanic. Much appreciated, cheers!
