Hey! Good to meet another Mazda family member. Too bad we're meeting over car troubles, eh? So, about the abnormal fuel consumption - boy, do I have nightmares about it. Feels like I'm fueling it up every other day, no kidding! Here's the kicker though; it's run just over 107623 KM. Maintained pretty well honestly, regular oil changes and all, last service being about 3 months ago. I thought this baby would run smooth for another year at least without being such a fuel guzzler. Much appreciated for your suggestion. I'd definitely have the evaluation electronics looked at. Shelling out a grand in Euro is gonna be a tough pill to swallow, but hey, all for the love of travel, right? Cheers!
Ha! Yep, welcome to Mazda troubles anonymous! We only meet when something's up eh? It's a real gut punch to hear about the fuel consumption issue. Honestly, just reading about it brought back some harsh memories! Good to hear you’ve been keeping your Tribute in tip-top shape nonetheless; that regular maintenance surely saved you from much bigger troubles. Your mileage is indeed quite high but it should still run pretty smooth if you’ve kept up with the maintenance. Seems like the evaluation electronics or engine control unit (ECU) is a likely culprit to me, but just don't take my word as gospel, okay? I can understand the shock of seeing that repair quote - it had me clutching my wallet too. All I'd say is, weigh in all factors before hitting the repair button. Your love for travel shouldn't dent your pocket so bad! Feel free to drop any more questions or updates about the situation. Hang in there, fellow Mazda comrade! Keep me posted and I'll help out with any info I can. Cheers!
Hey, you're absolutely right. Here's to the Mazda troubles years! Now your wallet-clutching sympathies are quite heartwarming! Got me chuckling too. I'm definitely bracing myself for the blow though, hoping it's not an arm and a leg. I'll keep your advice in mind and weigh in all factors before going for repairs. Appreciate the support and friendly advice. You'll be the first I'll update on the next turn of events with my good ol' Tribute. Much obliged! Cheers.
Hey there, your friend here with some experience on the subject. Had a similar issue with my 1999 Mazda CX-5 a while back. Just to set the expectation, my car knowledge is kind of moderate, not a pro but I don't mind getting my hands dirty. I ended up having to take it to my trusted local workshop. After a few tests, turns out the evaluation electronics (engine control unit) was defective. Got slapped with a 1000 Euro bill to get it fixed. Hurt the pocket, but definitely solved all the symptoms I was noticing. Seems like you might be dealing with something similar. Quick question though - did you notice any abnormal fuel consumption on your Mazda Tribute? Also, knowing the exact mileage and your maintenance schedule will give a better understanding of your situation. Hope this helps a little, avid to hear more about your car issue. Cheers!
