Gosh, that sounds really nerve-wracking with your Golf! I've had similar trouble with my Passat. Just for the record, do you remember what you had to pay for it? And were there any additional surprises that came up? Would be super grateful for some more input!

Hey, sure, I can tell you. After I finally took the car to the mechanic, they fixed the defect in the Hall sensor on the tailgate. That was a quirk! But now everything is working smoothly again. It was also necessary, because otherwise the tailgate simply wouldn't work properly. Well, and then, surprise surprise... the control unit was also defective. That cost me a whopping €1000. Quite a hefty sum, but what can you do? Nowadays, everything is electronic and it better not break... What a hassle. Hope that helps you a bit. But hey, at least we're not the only ones with car quirks like this, right? Cheer up, buddy! It'll be fine.

Really, €1000? That's no mean feat! But it's good to know that the Hall sensor is now working again. That's really annoying about the control unit, of course, I hadn't really thought about it. Thanks for the information, that will certainly help me to know what to expect. It will go wrong, won't it? Off to the mechanic then! Thanks again, buddy! Hope for better days without car problems. See you then!

Hello, Before you spend so much money, I would first try replacing the "button" with which you open the tailgate. It's actually a known problem with all vehicle brands that the button breaks over time. MFG

Hey, recently had similar issues with my 2015 VW Golf. Had a faulty tailgate lock and the mechanic also had to fit a new hall sensor. The stress level was surprisingly high and it wasn't a small problem. So be prepared for a proper repair. Can only recommend you get it fixed as soon as possible before it gets any worse. Good luck, buddy!
