Difficulties with the air conditioning in my 2007 VW Caddy Diesel - looking for experience and advice

Good afternoon, everyone! I'm a bit worried about my 2007 VW Caddy Diesel with 213492 km mileage. The air conditioning system only blows warm air, the cooling/heating capacity is insufficient and the A/C system does not switch on. I fear that it could be a defect in the A/C control valve. Have any of you had similar experiences and what was your experience at the garage? I didn't have a good impression of my mechanic last time. I would appreciate your experience and advice. Thank you and best regards!

Summary of the thread

A 2007 VW Caddy Diesel is experiencing air conditioning issues, blowing only warm air and failing to activate. The suspected cause is a defect in the A/C control valve. A similar issue in a 2010 VW Golf was resolved by addressing a refrigerant leak and a defective compressor, suggesting these could be potential causes. Repairing such issues can be costly but is generally fixable, with previous experiences indicating successful outcomes post-repair.

Did this summary help you solve your problem?

Hello, I recently had exactly the same problem with my 2010 VW Golf. The air conditioning only blew warm air and didn't turn on when I pressed the A/C switch. The mechanic then discovered that the refrigerant had been used up and the air conditioning compressor was defective due to a leak. The repair was quite time-consuming, but once it was finished, the A/C worked perfectly again. So don't worry too much, it's annoying but definitely fixable. I hope I was able to help you a little. Greetings!

Hey, thanks for your reply, you've really eased my worries a bit! Sounds like you've got a pretty good handle on it. Can you by any chance remember what you're paying for the repair? So, just to have an idea of what I should be prepared for. And has everything gone smoothly since the repair? So, have there been any other problems or surprises? Thanks and regards!

Hey, no problem, I'm happy to help! I had to pay around €300 to repair the sensor. Maybe the price is a bit different for you, depending on what exactly is broken, but at least now you have a small idea of what it might cost. And yes, since I've been to the mechanic, everything has been running great. The problem with the defective air conditioning control valve was fixed and there have been no nasty surprises since. Hope that helps you! Greetings!

Hello, that's very reassuring! 300 is still a lot of money, but at least I now have a rough idea of what I might have to expect. That's really helpful. Thanks for sharing your experience and taking the time to reply. I will take my Caddy to the garage as soon as possible and hope it's nothing worse. Keep your fingers crossed for me! Thank you and best regards!
