Hey, thanks for your quick reply! Unfortunately, that sounds like the scenario I feared, but it's good to know that you had peace of mind again after replacing the DPF. Can you still remember what you paid for the whole operation? And did everything work smoothly afterwards or were there any other surprises?

Hello, you're welcome! Yes, that really was quite a big chunk. But what are you going to do if the car doesn't keep running like that, right? Well, I ended up paying €1550 for the complete replacement of the diesel particulate filter. A lot of money, but my Skoda felt much better afterwards. The smoke, the smell, all gone! At first I was skeptical as to whether that was really all there was to it. But so far, good luck, good luck, everything is running smoothly and I haven't had any more nasty surprises. I hope it stays that way. So, it's definitely worth having it checked. I'll keep my fingers crossed that everything goes smoothly with your Karoq!

Oh wow, that's quite a lot of money indeed. But the main thing is that the car runs smoothly again afterwards. Thank you very much for your helpful information and encouragement! I'll call my mechanic tomorrow and tell him everything. Hopefully he'll be able to give me an appointment as soon as possible. Now I'm a bit more reassured and know more about what to expect. Thank you again and I also hope that I don't get any more nasty surprises. Bye and all the best for you and your Skoda!

Hi, it really sounds like the DPF is full. I had the same problem with my Skoda Octavia 2016 diesel. It showed exactly the same symptoms: More smoke, less power, and the smell.... I ended up having to go to the mechanic too. The diesel particulate filter in my car was actually defective due to high mileage. In the end, he changed the DPF. It wasn't the best news, but after that the car ran like clockwork again. But you have to be aware that this is no small job. It's a bit more serious and can take a day depending on the duration and susceptibility of the problem. I was just lucky and got an appointment quickly. Just give your trusted mechanic a call and describe the problem. You can manage that!
