Diesel 2000 Mazda MPV Headlight Cleaning System Issue: Suspected Rear Window Wiper Fluid Pump Signal Problem

Headlight cleaning system without function

Hey fellas, got a bit of a head-scratcher here. My Diesel 2000 Mazda MPV has been acting up lately. The headlight cleaning system hasn't been working. Thinking it might be a rear window wiper fluid pump signal issue? Anyone ever had anything similar or got any ideas to narrow this down? If you've previously taken this issue to the workshop, how did they sort it out and what was your experience? Appreciate your help!

Hey! I've dealt with something a bit similar on my own ride, a 1998 Mazda MX-6. I'm no grease monkey, but I've got some experience under the bonnet. When my headlights were on the fritz, I took it straight to my local workshop. Turned out, the issue was a defective pump cable connection or relay. Cost me about 165 Euro to get sorted. Maybe it'll be the same for your MPV, who knows? Anyway, to serve you better, could you drop some more details about your MPV like the mileage, and if you've recently had any repairs or replacements made? The more info, the better we can help ya out.

Hey, appreciate your insights. My MPV's worked around 210534 KM on the clock till date. Last time it saw the inside of a workshop was a couple of months back for a basic service, but didn't have any major repairs or replacements made. Surely hope it's nothing major this time too! Oh, and as for the amount, 165 Euro sounds a bit steep, but if it solves the issue, then it's worth every penny. Cheers!

Hey! Good to know about your Mazda MPV's specifics - help pinpoints the issue a bit. From what you're telling me, given the age and mileage on your MPV, it's probable that the pump might have given in. It’s like my old MX-6, the headlight washer pump or the relevant connectors might be at fault. Yea, I understand what you mean about the cost...165 Euro does sound a bit much, but honestly, well-functioning headlights are critical especially if you're driving long distances at night. And trust me, it more than pays for itself if it ensures safety, right? Consider taking your car to an experienced mechanic - they have the right tools & expertise to diagnose the issue quickly, and it might not be as expensive if it's a minor fix. Don't worry we'll figure this out. Cheers!

Spot on! Safety absolutely comes first, and I can't risk it especially with night driving. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction. Think I'll take the old girl to the workshop this coming weekend for a proper look-see. Fingers crossed the problem's as simple as a connector or pump issue. And cheers for being a sport and helping out, appreciate it!
