Thanks for the advice! My Delica's got 143682 KM on the clock and I just had it serviced last month. I haven't actually tried a manual reset, didn't know that was even possible! The problem started about two weeks ago, just out of nowhere. It's the high-grade trim with all the bells and whistles. I tried disconnecting the battery for a few minutes hoping it would reset something, but no luck. Where exactly did they access the system to do the reset in your case? I'm thinking of trying that before taking it to a shop since it worked for you. Would definitely save me some cash if I could sort it myself!
Hey again! Yeah, I totally get the battery disconnect attempt, that was one of my first tries too with my Pajero! Since you've got a similar setup to what I had, I can share more details about the reset process they did on mine. In my case, they accessed the system through the head unit itself. There's actually a specific button combination you can try: hold the power button and the menu button together for about 10 seconds (that's what they showed me after fixing mine). But honestly, I'd be careful about doing too much DIY here, I learned that these older Mitsubishis can be a bit finicky with their electronics. When mine was acting up, I noticed the reset worked but I still had to go through a proper pairing process afterward. If the button combo doesn't work for you, there's a service port behind the head unit that they might need to access, that's what they ended up doing with mine when the basic reset didn't stick. Given your mileage is pretty close to what mine was when I had the issue (mine was around 150000 KM), it could definitely be the same thing. Just keep in mind that if the reset doesn't work, it might need that professional touch like mine did. The workshop guys really knew their stuff with these older Mitsubishi models!
Thanks so much for all the detailed info! I just tried the button combination you mentioned, and while it did something (the screen flickered), it didn't completely solve the issue. You're probably right about being careful with DIY fixes on these old electronics. Given how similar our situations are, I think I'll just bite the bullet and take it to a professional. Better safe than sorry, especially since it worked out well for you! The 45 Euro doesn't sound too bad compared to what I was worried it might cost. I'll give my local Mitsubishi specialist a call tomorrow and mention the pairing protocol issue you had, might help them diagnose it faster. Really appreciate you taking the time to explain everything. It's definitely put my mind at ease knowing it's likely a fixable issue!
Hey there! I had something similar with my 2004 Mitsubishi Pajero (I've got some experience working on cars, but nothing too fancy). The head unit just wouldn't pair with any devices, super frustrating! Took it to my local workshop and turns out it was just a pairing protocol issue. They had to reset the entire connectivity system and update some settings. Cost me about 45 Euro, but it's been working perfectly since then. What trim level is your Delica, and have you tried doing a manual reset of the system? Also, when did this problem start? Might help me give you more specific advice based on what I learned from my experience. (Mine was actually quite similar to yours since both are Mitsubishis from around the same era, their connectivity systems were pretty similar back then!)
