Dealing with Check Engine and Warning Lights Related to Fuel Filler Flap Position Sensor in a 2021 Lexus LC Hybrid

Warning light in the speedometer of the vehicle

Hey, got a bit of a mystery with my 2021 Lexus LC hybrid here. The check engine light popped on, there's a freaky warning light in the speedometer and the fault stored warning all lit up. Been around the block for 135505 km now. Had a rough time with my mechanic last round who mentioned something about a possible fuel filler flap position sensor issue. Anybody out there tackled a similar demon? How'd it pan out at your mechanic? Would appreciate any wisdom you could share!

Hey there I've got a 2018 Lexus LS Hybrid and coincidentally, I had the exact same issue, not too long ago. Engine warning light, all the fun flashing bits on the dashboard, the whole shebang. My beast has done its fair share of miles too, just under 130000 km. Turns out, it wasn't just the fuel filler flap position sensor at fault. It was a bit more sneaky than that! The real culprit, as it turned out at my garage, was a defective fuel filler flap wiring harness. Don't worry though, in my experience, it's not as catastrophic as it sounds. It's a bit frustrating, for sure, but nothing too serious that a good mechanic can't handle. The task involved replacing the defective harness and doing some routine checks to make sure everything else was hunky-dory. Quite a bit of work but vital to sort out all the funny signs on the dashboard, and of course, keep the old girl purring along. Hope that helps! Hang in there! Must say your LC hybrid is a tough ride, don't forget that. Cheers!

Hey, that's quite an insight! Thanks for sharing your tale. My Lexus LC seems to be following a similar script here, frighteningly so. I would be relieved if it's just the fuel filler flap wiring harness as you mentioned. Just out of curiosity, can you recall how big a dent it made in your wallet? And have any more hitches popped up ever since? Just trying to prep myself for what's coming. Thanks again!

Hey there! No problem, glad to be of help! After the whole scenario played out, my bank balance was lighter by 155€. That's what it cost me to get the defective fuel filler flap wiring harness sorted out. So far, "touch wood," there haven't been any more pesky lights flashing on my dashboard. After that fix, the car's been running smoothly. After I got the fuel filler flap position sensor fault sorted by the mechanic, it’s been sweet sailing. Look, don't sweat it too much. These things happen from time to time. It's all part and parcel of the car adventure. Hope your LC hybrid gets back to its best soon! Cheers!

Thanks a ton for pulling back the curtain on your experience! That definitely takes some of the tension out of this whole shebang. I was bracing myself for some hefty expenses, but 155€ seems manageable. Good to know there's been no hitches since your repair. I should probably stop overthinking and just get to the garage. Hope my LC hybrid will also bounce back just like your LS Hybrid. Fingers crossed for a smooth ride post mechanic visit. Cheers!
