Dead QX Headlight Washers: Mechanic Needed in GTA

Headlight cleaning system without function

Hey everyone, my 2014 Infiniti QX (diesel) with 137,566 km is giving me trouble with the headlight washers they're completely dead. After a disappointing experience with my previous mechanic, I'm a bit hesitant about where to take it. Has anyone dealt with this issue before? I'd love to hear about your experiences and maybe get a recommendation for a reliable mechanic who knows these systems well. Thanks in advance!

Hey there, I had a similar issue with my 2011 Infiniti FX30d last winter. The headlight washers stopped working completely, and it turned out to be a broken cable in the washer system. Got it fixed at my local Infiniti specialist the cable had corroded and snapped near the pump connection. The repair wasn't particularly complex, but it required removing some components to access the washer system properly. From my garage experience, this is a relatively common issue with these models after about 100,000 km. Make sure they check both the pump and the cable system, as sometimes it's not immediately obvious which is causing the problem. It's not a critical safety issue, but worth fixing to maintain proper headlight cleaning, especially if you drive a lot at night or in bad weather. Hope this helps with your decision.

Thanks for sharing your experience! That's really helpful and sounds exactly like what I'm dealing with. I've been worried it might be something more serious, but hearing about your repair gives me some relief. If you don't mind me asking, do you remember roughly how much you ended up paying for the fix? Also, has everything been working smoothly since then? Just want to know what to expect long-term. Cheers!

Hey again! Good news I can give you a detailed update since I went through the whole repair process. After getting it fixed, I'm happy to report that my headlight washers have been working perfectly. The total bill came to 155€ for fixing the cable break, which honestly wasn't as bad as I'd feared. The mechanic found exactly what I suspected a corroded and broken cable near the pump, just like I mentioned before. Since the repair, I've had zero issues with the system. It's been about a year now, and the washers kick in reliably every time I need them. Definitely worth getting it sorted, especially for those nasty winter drives when you need clear headlights. Just make sure you get a mechanic who knows Infinitis it makes a big difference in both the quality of work and the final cost. The specialist I used knew exactly where to look and how to access everything without causing any additional problems. Let me know if you need any other info! Always happy to help a fellow Infiniti owner.

Thanks so much for all the details! I actually just got back from the mechanic today, and you won't believe it it was almost the exact same issue! Had a broken cable near the pump, just like yours. Found this great specialist through a and they fixed it up for about 170€. A bit more than what you paid, but I guess prices have gone up since last year. The whole experience was way better than I expected. The mechanic showed me exactly what was wrong and fixed it in just a few hours. Just tested the washers on my way home, and they're working perfectly now! Such a relief to have this sorted before winter hits. Really appreciate everyone's help here. Sometimes these car issues seem huge until you hear from others who've dealt with the same thing. Case closed on this one!
