Dead Nav Screen on CR-Z: Owners Share Fix Solutions

Navigationssystem is not working

Hey everyone! Having some issues with my 2011 Honda CR-Z Hybrid (145k km) and need your input. The navigation screen has completely stopped working, just a black screen, no response at all. Had some sketchy experiences with mechanics lately, so I'm trying to get some real feedback before taking it in. Has anyone dealt with this problem? What was the actual issue and how much did the repair cost? Thanks in advance for any help!

I actually had a similar issue with my 2014 Honda Insight Hybrid last year. The display went completely dark while driving, and I initially thought it was just a temporary glitch. Took it to the garage where they diagnosed it as a failed display unit, not just a fuse or loose connection. In my case, they had to replace the entire navigation unit because the internal display components were fried. It was a serious repair since the unit is integrated with several car functions. The mechanic mentioned these issues are somewhat common in older hybrid models due to the constant voltage fluctuations. Got it fixed and hasn't given me any trouble since, but definitely needed proper dealer parts to resolve it. The repair took about 2 days total with parts ordering. If you're experiencing the same symptoms, it's likely the same issue. Just make sure they run a full diagnostic before replacing any parts.

Thanks for sharing your experience! That sounds exactly like what I'm dealing with, completely dead screen and all. It's good to know it was fixable and not just my car acting up. Can you remember roughly how much you ended up paying for the whole repair? Also, have you had any other electrical quirks pop up since they fixed it? Just wanna make sure I'm prepared for what might be coming.

Hey there! Following up on your questions about the repair costs, I ended up paying 725€ to fix my Insight's navigation display. Worth every penny though, as the screen's been working perfectly since then. The repair job was really thorough and I haven't experienced any other electrical issues at all, everything's been running smoothly for months now. I know it's not a small amount to shell out, but honestly, it was such a relief to have the navigation system working properly again. The mechanic did a great job diagnosing and fixing the problem. They mentioned that getting genuine parts was key to preventing future issues, and they were absolutely right. The repair was totally worth it, no more black screen, and all the integrated functions are working like new. If you're experiencing the same problem, I'd definitely recommend getting it fixed despite the cost. Just make sure you go to a reputable shop that knows their way around hybrid systems!

Thanks so much for all that detailed info! Just wanted to give you guys an update, I took my CR-Z to the mechanic yesterday and you were spot on. Turned out to be the display unit, just like in your case. The mechanic I found was really honest and straightforward. He showed me exactly what was wrong and explained everything clearly. Got it fixed with genuine parts, cost me around 800 bucks total, which wasn't fun but at least it's sorted now. The repair took about a day and a half. The screen's working perfectly now, maps, audio, everything's back to normal. Such a relief not having to deal with that black screen anymore! Really glad I asked here first, saved me from getting ripped off at some other places I was considering. Thanks again for helping me out, guys. Really appreciate the solid advice!
