Dead Infiniti JX Infotainment Fix Options Needed

No GPS connection

|

Smartphone can not be connected

Hey all, having trouble with my 2012 Infiniti JX Hybrid (225,559 km) the infotainment system seems dead. Can't connect my phone or get any GPS signal anymore. Last mechanic visit wasn't great, so I'm hesitant to go back. Has anyone experienced similar connectivity issues with their JX? Would love to hear about trusted mechanics who've successfully fixed this problem. Thanks in advance!

I had a similar issue with my 2015 Infiniti QX60 Hybrid (the successor to the JX). The infotainment system completely stopped pairing with my phone, and the GPS was unresponsive. Took it to the dealer last month turns out the main control unit needed a full reset and software update. The old software version wasn't compatible with newer phones anymore. The fix wasn't too complicated, but it required specialized diagnostic tools that only authorized dealers have. In my case, they had to keep the car overnight to complete all the updates and verify the system was working correctly. Not a major mechanical issue, just a tech thing. Make sure whoever works on it has experience with Infiniti's infotainment systems. Unusual repair shops might not have access to the right diagnostic equipment or software updates.

Thanks for sharing your experience! That's really helpful to know it might just be a software compatibility issue. I just wonder do you remember roughly how much you ended up paying for the reset and update? Also, has everything been working smoothly since then? I'm trying to get a sense of whether this is a one-time fix or if I should expect other issues to pop up.

Hey there! Just wanted to follow up on your questions. After getting it fixed last month, my QX60's infotainment system has been working like a charm no problems at all! The phone pairing works perfectly now, and I haven't had any connectivity issues since. The whole thing cost me €45.00 to sort out the pairing problem. Pretty reasonable considering how frustrating it was dealing with the connectivity issues before. The dealer's diagnostic tools really made the difference they knew exactly what they were doing with these Infiniti systems. I wouldn't stress too much about future problems. These infotainment quirks usually just need a one-time fix to get them sorted. My system's been rock solid since the update, and I'm back to enjoying all the connectivity features without any drama. Sometimes these tech updates are just what these cars need to play nice with our newer phones! Feel free to ask if you need any other details about my experience with this!

Thanks so much for all the detailed info! I actually took your advice and went to the Infiniti dealer yesterday. You were spot on it was just a software issue. They did the reset and update in about 3 hours, and it cost me €50, pretty close to what you paid. The funny part was, when I got there, they immediately knew what the problem was. The tech said they've been seeing this a lot with older JX models. Would've saved myself weeks of frustration if I'd just gone there first instead of that other shop! Everything's working perfectly now GPS is back, phone connects instantly, and the whole system feels snappier. Really glad I didn't waste more time trying unusual fixes or going to shops that weren't familiar with Infiniti systems. Thanks again for steering me in the right direction. Sometimes you just need to bite the bullet and go to the dealer, especially for these tech-related issues. Case closed!
