ABS warning light

Hey everyone, having some serious brake-related issues with my 2004 Infiniti Q (70141 KM). The ABS light won't turn off, brake pedal feels dead, and both brake and speedometer warning lights are lit up. Pretty sure it's the brake pedal position sensor, but my last mechanic experience wasn't great. Has anyone dealt with similar symptoms? Looking for recommendations on reliable mechanics who've fixed this issue before, and maybe a rough estimate of repair costs. Thanks in advance!

I had a similar issue with my 2007 Infiniti G35 last summer. The symptoms were exactly the same ABS light, unresponsive brake pedal, and warning lights all over the dashboard. Initially thought it was just the sensor, but turned out the ABS module was failing. Took it to my regular mechanic, and they diagnosed multiple issues: faulty brake pedal position sensor, corroded ABS module connections, and a partially seized brake master cylinder. All these components were working against each other, causing the system to malfunction. Had to get the entire brake system serviced new sensor, cleaned up the ABS module connections, and replaced the master cylinder. It was a serious safety issue that needed immediate attention. The car's been running perfectly since then, no warning lights or brake problems. I'd definitely recommend getting it checked out ASAP, especially with those symptoms. Can't risk brake failures.

Thanks for sharing your experience! You're right, it does sound exactly like my issue. I ended up getting it fixed last week, and it's working great now. Do you remember roughly how much you paid for all those repairs? Also, just curious have you had any other brake-related problems pop up since getting it fixed?

Hey again! Glad to hear you got your Infiniti fixed! Actually, my situation with my G35 turned out differently than I initially thought. After the mechanic checked it out, it was just the brake pedal position sensor not working properly but here's the funny part it wasn't even broken! Turned out I wasn't pressing the brake pedal all the way down when starting the car. Talk about a facepalm moment! So in my case, there was no cost at all since it was just personal error. The mechanic just showed me the correct way to press the brake pedal when starting up, and all those warning lights disappeared. No other brake issues since then! Sounds like you might have had the same simple fix? These cars can be a bit particular about how you press the brake when starting up. Sometimes the simplest solution is the right one! Let me know if you run into any other quirks with your Q always happy to share what I've learned from my G35 experiences.

Oh I wish my fix had been that simple! Actually, my situation turned out to be a bit more complicated. I took it to Mike's Auto Shop downtown last Thursday. The mechanic found that my ABS module was actually shot and needed replacing. Cost me about 800€ for the part and labor, but honestly, it was worth every penny. The funny thing is, while I was there, the mechanic showed me exactly what you mentioned about the brake pedal position I'd been doing that wrong too! So even though I needed the actual repair, I learned something new. The car's running like a dream now no more warning lights, and the brake pedal feels nice and firm. Thanks again for your help! It's good to know these little tricks about these cars. I'll definitely remember to press that brake pedal properly from now on!
