Dacia Sandero 2019 Experiencing Engine Start and Power Issues

Engine hard to start

Dim or flickering lights

Weak battery when starting the engine

Hey everyone, I've got a 2019 Gasoline Dacia Sandero with about 23675 KM on the clock and I'm facing some issues that have me baffled. The engine's been tough to start lately, my battery seems weak when cranking and the car's lights are either dim or flickering. Last time I saw the mechanic was a nightmare, so thought I'd ask you guys first before heading that way. I'm guessing it’s possibly something wrong with the engine control? Anyone out there with similar problems or knows a trustworthy mechanic who’s worked on this? Much appreciated!

Hey there, I feel you those pesky car issues can be real headaches! I had a slightly similar experience with my 2016 Dacia Duster. Guess what? The problem turned out to be with the alternator, not the engine control. My mechanic noticed that the alternator wasn't charging the battery as efficiently as it should, which created a cascade of other symptoms like the ones you mentioned - difficult ignition, weak battery, dimming lights, you get the idea. Luckily, it wasn't a major issue that cost me a fortune to fix (yeah, saving the extra bucks felt good). But let's face it, every car is a different beast if you look closely under the hood. So yeah, your ride might have a different problem altogether. But it's worth noting this as a possibility, right? It sounds like you need a hands-on check from a trusted mechanic, so good luck with finding one! Keep us posted!

Hey, sounds like you've been through the wringer with your Sandero! Spot on advice from there. I ain't no car expert, but going by my own stints with various issues, it could definitely be something to do with your alternator. If you don't mind me asking, any idea what you ended up shelling out for that alternator fix on your Duster,? Any unforeseen niggles pop up since then? It'd be a massive help to consider all possibilities before I rush off to the mechanic. Cheers!

Hey again! Totally understand wanting to weigh the cost options before setting foot in the workshop. For the Duster, the mechanic's bill came out to be exactly 290€ and that was specifically to sort the battery voltage issue. It's been smooth sailing after the fix. Just like you guessed earlier, despite my hunch about the engine control being the culprit, it turned out to be fine. Goes to show, these car issues can be surprising after all! So yeah, don't stress and get it looked at by a professional. They'll be able to diagnose if it's exactly the alternator, or something else that's causing those flickering lights and the rest of it. Good luck!

Couldn't thank you more, and! Your insights and experiences are a lifesaver. Seems the alternator issue bears a striking resemblance to my current pickle with the Sandero. I must confess, the story of your Duster, and the surprise twist in it's tale gives me a ray of hope. I'll soon head off to a local mechanic, hopefully someone as efficient as yours! Will make sure to keep an eye out for the cost given your experience. Let's wait and see what this ride has in store for me. Fingers crossed it's something simple like an alternator issue and not some elaborate engine dilemma that would cost me an arm and a leg. Trust me, I reached my yearly quota of automobile nightmares! Will keep you guys updated on how it goes. Until then, wish me luck!
