Dacia Logan 2020: Experiencing Engine Light Warning, Power Loss and Stalling While Idle

Stalling while idling

Loss of engine power

Shaking while idling

Jerking on acceleration

Check engine light on

Unsteady engine

Hey car buddies! I'm dealing with some serious gremlins in my 2020 Dacia Logan (gasoline engine, clocked around 92619 KM). I'm experiencing a lit check engine, shaking and stalling while idle, drop in power, and some jerking when stepping on the gas. It's been playing on my mind since my last mechanic visit wasn't the best. The issues seem to be pointing towards a Tank ventilation system or DMTL valve fault, but I'm no expert. Has anyone here dealt with similar problems? Can you guys share your insights and experiences with mechanics? Any advice appreciated. Cheers.

Hey there! Sounds like we're on the same boat. I had a similar issue with my 2017 Dacia Duster (it's diesel, but the issues were pretty similar, so bear with me). Check engine light, drop in power, shaking, the whole nine yards. Turns out it was indeed the tank vent lines that were defective. When I took it to the garage, they told me that the defect was obstructing the airflow from the tank to the valve, which was causing all the problems. The fix was a bit complex since it involved inspecting and replacing the defective parts in the ventilation system and DMTL valve. I can confirm it's serious, but not something unheard of. You're definitely onto something suspecting the Tank ventilation system or the DMTL valve. It might be the same issue for you. My advice? Get it checked out soon with a trusted mechanic. Wish you good luck with the repair. Let's hope the repair goes smoother for you than it did for me. Cheers!

Hey there! Bummer, you faced the same issues with your Duster. Thanks for sharing, really! It's helping to ease my mind knowing I'm on the right track. Seems these troublemakers – tank vent lines and DMTL valve – need checking sooner rather than later. Out of curiosity, do you recall roughly how much the whole inspection and replacement set you back? And have any other problematic critters popped up since then? Fingers crossed it all went smoothly for you after the fix. Cheers!

Hey! Absolutely, happy to share. Getting past car troubles can be a real pain. Just to jog my memory, the cost for sorting out the vent lines from the tank to the valve was about 205€. Yeah, a bit more than a pocket change, I know. But hey, it was worth to get rid of those annoying issues. Having a ride that runs smooth again, priceless! And since then? No more gremlins. The tank ventilation system and DMTL valve error were taken care of and haven't had any other issues since the fix. Everything ended up running like clockwork. Good luck with your Logan, fingers crossed it will all pan out smoothly for you, too! Cheers!

Wow, 205€, that's something to think about. But like you said, nothing beats a smooth ride, right? Great to hear that you got over your car troubles and that it's all clockwork since then. That gives me hope. Thanks a lot for sharing your experience! Knowing that someone else has been through the same situation and come out on top definitely helps. I'm going to arrange an appointment with a mechanic soon, fingers crossed everything goes smooth. I'll take your luck! Cheers and thanks again for all the help. Let's hope my Dacia Logan pulls through just like your Duster did. Safe drives and keep enjoying that smooth ride!
