Hey there, Thanks for sharing your experience, really helps to get insights from someone who's been through the ropes. Sounds like quite the hassle you had with your Dacia Sandero. ECU failure, huh? Haven't particularly considered it but given the signs you dropped, I should probably ask my mechanic to look into that as well. Can you recall roughly how much the fix set you back? And since getting it sorted, have you noticed any other symptoms popping up or was it all smooth cruising from there? Thanks again. Appreciate your help!
Hey! Glad I could give you some insight. Getting your mechanic to check your ECU certainly sounds like a good idea from here. Remember, it's all about making sure you've got all your bases covered. As for your question about the costs, it did make my wallet a bit lighter, I'm not going to lie. Fixing the ECU - or to put it more technically, solving the evaluation electronics defect - set me back around 1000€. Not exactly pocket change, but a necessary fix. Now, you also asked about the charge air temperature sensor issue, right? That little devil was tinkered with by my mechanic and ever since, no more problems on that front. It's been running smooth as butter, I must say. And, since those fixes, my Dacia Sandero has been behaving herself - no black smoke, no strange noises or smells, and she's running just as spry as the day I got her, maybe even better, dare I say? So, I would say it's worth every penny in the end. Better to have a functioning car than a problematic one, right? Hope this helps! Good luck with your Logan! Keep us updated. Cheers!
Hey! Absolutely invaluable advice there! Got the point about ECU check, will definitely pass it to the mechanic I choose. €1000 is indeed a bit steep but hey, safety and peace of mind are priceless, aren't they? That's great to hear about your Dacia working fine post repairs, gives me hope for my Logan! Fingers crossed the mechanic will figure it all out just like with your car. Thanks for all the help. Can't really express how much I appreciate it. Will definitely keep you posted on how things turn out. Cheers!
Hey! I can relate to a lot of the symptoms your Dacia Logan is showing. I had a similar issue with my 2007 Dacia Sandero a while ago. Black smoke, drop in power, odd noises and smells, the lot. Nasty business it was. The check engine light was my constant companion too. Turns out the culprit was the engine control unit (ECU). That bugger manages a large part of the car's functions. If it gets its knickers in a twist, you'll be seeing all sorts of issues. All the signs pointed toward a problem with my car's evaluation electronics. In other words, the ECU was on the fritz. I won't lie, it was a real headache to repair. The ECU doesn't always show obvious signs of failure, so proper diagnosis took a fair bit of time. I might have been lucky it didn't lead to something more serious while on the road. It's a pretty significant part of the engine after all. Keep in mind though, diagnosing problems can be tricky even for experienced mechanics, so it's important to find someone you trust. Just to be clear, not saying that's definitely your problem but, it might be something to take into account considering the symptoms you described. Cheers hope it all works out.
