Dacia Lodgy 2021 Gas Model: Possible Lambda Sensor Heater Issue and Decreased Performance Indicators

Unsteady engine

Loss of engine power

Black smoke from exhaust on acceleration

Poor fuel economy

Jerking on acceleration

Check engine light on

Hey everyone, I got a 2021 Dacia Lodgy, gas version, clocked about 75k KM and recently I've been seeing some concerning signs. I've got black puff on acceleration, the infernal check engine light shining bright, not to mention the obvious loss of engine power. The engine's started to act out and jerk on acceleration, the fuel economy is in the pits. Based on what I've experienced, maybe there's a problem with the lambda sensor heater, just a guess though. Had a sour experience with my mechanic last time so here I am. Anyone had these issues before and what it was all about? How'd your mechanic visit go? Appreciate any input!

Hey there, I own a 2018 Dacia Duster. Had a similar situation not too long ago, with virtually the same symptoms: black smoke, decreased power, awful fuel economy, and the engine getting grumpy on acceleration. Turns out you were spot on with your guess. My lambda sensor's heater was indeed off kilter. Let me tell ya, a faulty lambda sensor can mess up your car's air/fuel mix, potentially leading to richer fuel mixtures, hence the black puffs, lower power, and poorer fuel economy you're seeing. If unchecked, it might even cause damage to the catalytic converters. Getting it fixed wasn't much of a rigamarole - I met with a pretty professional mechanic who diagnosed the issue and sorted it quick. Sure, it's not something to laugh off, but it's also not the ending scene from a car horror movie, you know what I mean? Anyway, the key takeaway here is that you might want to get it checked pronto. Get a reliable mechanic who actually knows their stuff and potentially squashes any damages from escalating. Cheers!

Hey there! I also have a Lodgy, 2019 model though, and I started noticing exactly the same problems you've described. And just like you've said, my mechanic also identified it to be a faulty lambda sensor heater. It's such a bummer, isn't it? Glad you got yours fixed in no time. If you don't mind me asking, do you recall roughly how much the fix cost you? I know it can greatly vary, but just want to have an idea about what I'd be looking at. Also, has anything else concerning popped up since you got this issue resolved? Hoping it all runs smoothly for you now. Thanks a bunch!

Hey, good to know I'm not the only one who ran into this, huh? About the cost: I remember it was sort of a kick in the pocket. I dropped a decent chunk of change around 375€ to get the lambda sensor heater back on track. I agree it might vary, but that's a roundabout idea for you. Since getting it fixed, my Lodgy's been running like a champ, honestly. I haven't noticed any other alarming signs, and there's been a noticeable improvement in fuel economy and the overall performance. Touch wood! The mechanic seems to have done a great job fixing it. I hope this helps, and fingers crossed that you sort yours out without any further problems. If you've got any more questions or if there's anything else you're curious about, just holler! Keep us updated on how it goes, yeah? Safe driving!

Hey, thanks for the heads up and sharing the costs. That gives me a clearer picture of what to prepare for. It's a relief to hear that your Lodgy's been faring well after the fix though, really calms my nerves a bit. I'll make sure to find a reliable mechanic this time. With any luck, mine should run just as smoothly as yours post-fix. Appreciate your support, will definitely keep the thread updated once I get the issue sorted. Here's hoping for no nasty surprises. Safe driving to you too!
