Hey! I appreciate the quick response! My fuel consumption has taken a big hit, it seems way too high for the amount of driving I do. Now when it comes to service, the last big one was done at 74317km, not too long ago. Did all the standard stuff: change of oil, filters, etc. Hope this extra info helps. Thanks again for your advice! Cheers!
Hey! That additional info helps a lot. Increased fuel consumption along with the other symptoms you mentioned certainly points towards the EGR valve. With usage, the EGR valve can get clogged, causing misfires, drop in power and excessive fuel consumption. Your service seems quite recent, so it's unlikely to be related to lack of maintenance. For my Logan, I also had similar issues and fixing the EGR valve did the trick. Though it cost me a few Euro, it was worth it. Given what you've described, I'd recommend taking your Duster to a trusted mechanic for a check-up as well. It might be the same fix for you too! Do keep us updated about how it goes. We're all here to learn! Cheers!
Hey, thanks for considering my situation and giving such insightful advice. Your comments definitely clear up a lot of doubts. With everything that you've shared, I'm now leaning more towards an EGR valve issue too. I'm gonna get it checked out and probably replaced if it turns out to be the culprit. I'll keep you all posted with the updates. Thanks again! Truly appreciate your help, cheers!
Hey! I encountered something similar with my 2013 Dacia Logan Diesel. I'd say I have some experience with cars - I’m not a certified mechanic, but I tinker around. I noticed my engine was cutting out and there were some unusual smells. After doing some reading and checking, I suspected it was the EGR valve, too. So, I took it to my local garage and they confirmed the EGR valve was defective and stuck. I had them replace it, which set me back about 355 Euro. Not cheap, but it did the job, as everything went back to normal after that. Your Duster might also need the same fix. Could you share more about your fuel consumption and the last time you serviced the car? This could help figure out if the EGR valve is the problem. Cheers!
