Dacia Duster's GPS Signal Loss: Seeking Solutions Outside of Mechanic Intervention

Hey! I've got a 2019 Dacia Duster, the one with a gasoline engine. It's got a fair bit of mileage on it, about 104,431 KM, but it's been running fine till now. Just recently, I noticed that my GPS is not picking up a signal. I reckon it might be an issue with the GPS antenna. Has anyone here experienced something similar? I'm a bit wary of going back to my mechanic after a not-so-great experience last time around. Would appreciate any info on what you did if you faced a similar issue and how your mechanic sorted it out for you. Cheers!

Hey! Sure do know what you're going through. I own a 2016 Dacia Sandero and experienced the same ordeal not too long ago. GPS going bonkers, causing so much trouble. Thought it was a software issue initially, but turned out to be the GPS antenna too. It was a pickle alright, but not what you'd call a serious issue. At the garage, they first checked the connections, but those were alright. The "Not-So-Easy" part was getting to the darn thing, which was up on the roof. The felt-lined interior roof panel had to be taken down, and let me tell you, it's not as fun as it sounds. Yeah, it’s not a job you’d want to do yourself unless you’re pretty handy. Once they detached the faulty GPS antenna, they installed a new one, and voila! It felt like magic; the GPS started picking up signals like it used to. So don't fret too much. It's not like a severe engine problem or anything. Your Duster will get through this - mine did!

Hey there! I got the same model Duster as you and reading your experience feels like deja vu. My GPS got up to its antics a little while back and it turned out to be the same blasted antenna issue. I couldn't remember how much I shelled out at the mechanics for the fix, though. Could you jog my memory on the price? And oh, has anything else popped up after that antenna fiasco? I'm running paranoid of other gremlins showing up.

Hiya! Ah the good ol' GPS saga, eh? Well, in terms of price, they pegged me for a clean 200€ for that job. That's including labor and a new antenna. As for other issues, thankfully not a peep from any pesky gremlins so far. After they fixed the dodgy GPS antenna, it's been smooth sailing, or should I say, driving? Your Duster should be the same so no need to worry about other unwelcome surprises popping up. Engine’s purring and the GPS is on point, just like old times.

Heyya! Thanks for the info! Now that you've mentioned it, I do remember coughing up around the same amount when my GPS antenna gave up on me. It's a relief to hear no other gremlins decided to pay a visit to your car later. I'm hoping my Duster runs the same track you're on. Fingers crossed! And kudos to our mechanics for being the unsung heroes. Don't know where I'd be without them fixing up these techno-trials. Jolly good chat we've had! I'm off now. Drive safe, and take care of your Sandero! Cheers!
