Cruise Control Failure on Honda Gienia, Owners Report

Fault stored

|

Cruise control without function

Hey there! Need advice on my 2017 Honda Gienia (240k km). The cruise control completely stopped working and there's a fault code stored. Has anyone experienced similar issues with their Gienia? Looking for recommendations on what could be wrong and tips on getting it fixed, as I've had some not-so-great experiences with mechanics recently. It's a gasoline model. Thanks in advance for any help!

Hey! I had a similar issue with my 2014 Honda Accord (gasoline). The cruise control stopped working completely, and it turned out to be a damaged cable connection under the steering column. The symptom was exactly the same, total cruise control failure with a stored fault code. Took it to the garage last month. The mechanic found that the cable had some corrosion and wasn't making proper contact. They had to replace the entire cruise control cable assembly. It wasn't a complex repair, but it did require specific knowledge to access the components properly. This isn't typically a serious issue that affects other systems, but it needs proper diagnosis. My advice would be to have a certified mechanic check the cable connections first before replacing any major components. Make sure they do a proper diagnostic scan too. Hope this helps with your Gienia!

Hey, thanks for sharing your experience! That sounds exactly like what I'm dealing with. Really helpful to know it could be a cable issue, makes me feel a bit better that it might not be something super expensive. Just wondering, do you remember roughly how much you ended up paying for the repair? And has everything been working smoothly since they fixed it? Would love to know if any other issues popped up afterward. Thanks again for the help!

Hey again! Great to hear back from you! Yes, absolutely, I can update you on how everything went. The repair was actually very reasonable, only cost me 95€ to fix that faulty cable connection. And I've got good news, the cruise control has been working perfectly ever since they sorted it out! Been using it regularly on my Accord and haven't had a single problem. It's such a relief when these things turn out to be simpler than you first worry they might be, right? The mechanic definitely knew what they were doing, and they found the issue pretty quickly. Just like I suspected, it was that corroded cable connection causing all the trouble. No other issues have popped up at all, the system's working just as good as new. Trust me, I was just as worried as you when it first happened, but it turned out to be a pretty straightforward fix. You should be back to cruising in no time! Let me know how it goes with yours!

Hey there, just wanted to give you an update on my Gienia's cruise control situation! Took your advice and had it checked out. You were spot on, it was indeed a cable issue. The mechanic found some corrosion in the wiring under the steering column, pretty much exactly like what you described with your Accord. Got it fixed yesterday and I'm super relieved! The total cost came to about 120 €, a bit more than what you paid, but still way less than I was worried it might be. They replaced the entire cable assembly and ran a diagnostic test to make sure everything was working properly. Took it for a test drive this morning and the cruise control is working perfectly now! No more fault codes or issues. Honestly, I was stressing out thinking it might be something major, so I'm really glad I asked for advice here. Thanks again for sharing your experience, it really helped me avoid getting overcharged or having unnecessary work done. Really appreciate your help with this one! Time to enjoy some stress-free driving again!
