Cruise Control Failure in 2021 Mazda Scrum: Seeking Suggestions and Garage Experiences

Cruise control without function

Fault stored

Hey guys, I've run into some bother with my 2021 Mazda Scrum. She's done 99157 kms and is a gas model. Recently I've been having issues with the cruise control – it's completely stopped working out of nowhere. My car is also storing some kind of fault. I guess it has something to do with the cruise control but I'm no expert. Last time I trusted the local garage, they left a sour taste in my mouth. Anyone else experienced something similar? What could it be and how was your garage experience? Can't wait to hear your thoughts!

Hey! I had a similar problem with my 2018 Mazda AZ-Wagon a while back. Just like yours, the cruise control packed up and started showing faults. Turns out the culprit was a defective cable connection to the sensor. Funnily enough, I didn't initially connect the dots either. My local garage tech explained that this sensor plays a role in the cruise control along with other systems. So, a damaged connection could indeed cause the cruise control to behave erratically or stop working entirely. In my case, the garage had to do some fiddling to make things right, which included testing the bad sensor cable, followed by replacing it. I reckon it didn’t feel like a minor issue! But once it was fixed, things got back to normal and the faults cleared out. So it might be worth having yours checked. Just make sure you pick a good garage - I've learned that not all of them leave a sour taste. Hope this helps, and don’t worry, you’ll sort it out in no time!

Hey,, your experience sounds eerily similar to the trouble I'm facing with my Mazda Scrum. Your response helped connect a few loose ends and now, I've a basic understanding of what the issue may be. So, you mentioned the defective cable connection to the sensor was the troublemaker, huh? Quick question, if you don't mind me asking - Can you recall about how much you had to shell out for the repairs? And since the fix, have you faced the same or any other related issues? I'm just trying to gauge what I should be prepared for. Your input would be greatly appreciated. Cheers!

Hey, yeah the defective sensor cable was definitely the nuisance in my case. Good to hear my story helped you see things a bit clearer. As far as the cost, it came up to about 155.00 €, which included fixing that pesky cable connection to the sensor. Once the mechanic got his hands on it, the cruise control started working perfectly again - just like new. No other related issues have cropped up since, touch wood! I know it can be unnerving to not know what's going on with your motor. But hey, take it to a reliable mechanic and it should be all good. And remember, the issue may look serious, but often it's something as simple as a defective cable. Hope you get back to smooth cruises soon!

Hey there! You have no idea how much light your response has shed for me. Hearing directly about your experience has definitely put my mind at ease. Honestly, my main concern was about the work required to fix the issue, and you’ve pretty much nailed it. Around 155.00 € isn’t as bad as I feared, and it's good to know expectations are set. Not at all excited about spending time at the mechanic, but at least now I know it's more likely a problem with the sensor cable, rather than something major! I'll knock on some quality garage doors this time to get things done right. Thanks again ; let's hope that the good ol’ Scrum is back cruising the roads like before in no time!
