Hey everyone, having trouble with my 2021 Vauxhall CrosslandX diesel. Getting black smoke under acceleration, engine's running rough with power loss, and there's this loud hissing/whistling noise. Engine light is on, and it jerks and shakes both while driving and idling. I suspect it might be the boost pressure actuator, but want to hear from anyone who's dealt with similar symptoms. What was the actual problem and how did your mechanic fix it? Any info would be really helpful.

Hey there! I had a similar issue with my 2019 Vauxhall Grandland X Diesel last year. Those symptoms sound very familiar, I got the same black smoke and power loss issues. Turned out the wiring harness to the boost pressure actuator was damaged on mine. My regular mechanic found some frayed wires during inspection. Total fix was around 155€ including parts and labor, they had to replace the entire harness section. But before I jump to conclusions, how many miles/km on your CrosslandX? When did these symptoms first start? Any recent work done on the engine? This could help pinpoint if you're dealing with the same problem I had.

Thanks for sharing your experience! My CrosslandX has 247171 KM on the clock. The symptoms started about a week ago, pretty suddenly actually. Just had a regular service done last month where they changed the oil and filters. Nothing major was flagged during that service. Really hoping it's just the wiring like in your case and not something more serious. The black smoke is what's worrying me the most honestly.

Hey again! Yeah, reading your response about the mileage and recent service actually makes me even more convinced it could be similar to what I dealt with on my Grandland X. The sudden onset is really typical for electrical issues like I had. The black smoke was super scary for me too, I remember panicking when I first saw it! But in my case (and probably yours too), it was happening because the faulty wiring wasn't letting the boost pressure actuator regulate properly, so the engine was getting way too much fuel at times. Since you mentioned you just had a service, there's a chance they might have accidentally disturbed some wiring while working on it, that's actually kind of what happened with mine. The wire harness can get brittle over time, and sometimes even slight movement during routine maintenance can cause issues. For what it's worth, my repair was pretty straightforward once they identified the problem. The smoke cleared up immediately after they fixed the wiring. Given your symptoms are so similar, I'd bet you're looking at the same kind of repair. Definitely worth getting it checked soon though, I learned the hard way that driving with it too long can cause other issues! Keep us posted on what you find out!

Thanks so much for the detailed response! That's actually really reassuring to hear. You're right, the timing with the recent service could explain it, and the symptoms are exactly as you described. I'll get it to my mechanic first thing tomorrow and have them check the wiring harness specifically. Really hope it's as straightforward as your repair was! I'll update this thread once I know what's what. Thanks again for taking the time to share your experience, it's definitely helped calm my nerves about the whole situation!
