Thanks for your reply! Mine has 202108 KM on the clock and I've just had it serviced last month. The symptoms started showing up about two weeks ago, gradually getting worse. The timing's really weird since it was running perfectly fine before that. Based on what you're saying about the ECU, I might need to brace my wallet for a hit... Did your car also have that weird hissing sound during acceleration? That's the part that's really bugging me.
Hey again! Yeah, I totally get what you mean about that hissing sound, my Mokka had the exact same issue! It was like a whistling kettle whenever I pressed the accelerator, right? Super annoying! Actually, that hissing sound was one of the main things that tipped off my mechanic about the ECU problem. It's weird how these things start showing up out of nowhere, mine was also running perfectly fine until it wasn't. The timing of your issues (right after service) is interesting though... my problems started out of nowhere, not connected to any service. The mileage on your CrosslandX is pretty similar to what mine had when the problems started (mine was around 195000 KM). One thing I didn't mention in my first reply, before I got the ECU replaced, I wasted about 200€ on replacing the turbo sensor because another garage thought that was the issue. Spoiler alert: it wasn't! Quick tip, when you take it to the garage, make sure they do a proper diagnostic test first. Don't let them start replacing parts without being sure. That's the mistake I made initially. Let me know how it goes, really curious if it turns out to be the same issue as mine!
Thanks so much for all this detailed info, especially about the turbo sensor situation! You've just saved me from potentially making the same costly mistake. The whistling kettle comparison is spot on, that's exactly what it sounds like! I've just booked it in at the main Vauxhall dealer for next Tuesday. Going to specifically ask them to do a thorough diagnostic test before touching anything, as you suggested. I'll probably mention your ECU experience too, just to give them another angle to consider. Really hoping it won't cost as much as yours did, but at least I'm mentally prepared now! Thanks again for taking the time to share your experience. I'll try to remember to update you once I find out what's actually wrong with mine. Fingers crossed it's something simpler, but at least I know what I might be in for!
Hey there! I had some experience with similar issues on my 2015 Vauxhall Mokka (also had a Corsa before). I'd say I have low experience with cars, just the basics. When I faced similar symptoms, it turned out to be a faulty engine control unit (ECU). The workshop diagnosed it after running some tests, and they had to replace the unit completely. Cost me around 1000€, including labor. Not fun for the wallet, but it fixed all those issues, the smoke, power loss, and weird noises all went away. Before you jump to conclusions though, how many miles/km on your CrosslandX? When did these symptoms first appear? Have you had any recent repairs done? This info would help to see if your case matches what I experienced. The symptoms sound very similar, but best to check these details first.
