Check engine light on

Hey all! My 2016 Honda CR-V (gas, 68,534 km) is giving me headaches lately. The engine's been acting up, losing power, jerking when I accelerate, and making strange noises. Check engine light is on and I'm burning through fuel like crazy. Previous mechanic visit wasn't great, so I'm a bit hesitant. I suspect it might be a knock sensor issue, but wanted to hear if anyone's dealt with similar symptoms in their CR-V? Any recommendations for getting this sorted? Thanks in advance!

Had similar issues with my 2013 Honda Pilot. Started with power loss and rough acceleration, plus that dreaded check engine light. Turned out the ignition coils and spark plug cables were damaged, causing misfires. Got it checked at the garage last month, they found two faulty coils and corroded plug connectors. Not a catastrophic problem, but definitely needed immediate attention. The mechanic showed me how the old cables were worn out and affecting the spark timing. The entire repair job took about 3-4 hours. These symptoms can also point to knock sensor issues, but in my case, it was just the cables and coils. Would recommend getting it diagnosed properly, these symptoms shouldn't be ignored as they can lead to bigger engine problems if left unchecked.

Hey there! Glad you shared your experience with the Pilot, it's really helpful since those symptoms sound exactly like what I'm dealing with. It's a relief to hear it wasn't anything too major in your case. Would you mind sharing how much the repair set you back? Just trying to get a rough idea of what I might be looking at. Also, curious if you've had any other issues pop up since getting it fixed?

Hey again! Thanks for asking about the follow-up. Since my last post, I actually took my Pilot back to the mechanic because I was still having some concerns, and guess what, you were spot on! They found it was indeed a knock sensor problem too, on top of those coil and cable issues I mentioned before. The good news is they sorted out the knock sensor malfunction, it was just a faulty cable and plug that needed replacing. That part was surprisingly reasonable, only €95 for the fix. The earlier repair for the coils and cables was a bit more, around €400 including parts and labor. And I'm happy to report everything's running smooth as butter now! No more jerking, weird noises, or power issues. Fuel consumption is back to normal too. Haven't had a single problem since the knock sensor was fixed, it's like driving a different car! Pro tip though, don't wait as long as I did if you suspect something's wrong. These things can snowball if left unchecked. Hope you get yours sorted soon!

Thanks so much for all the details! Just wanted to update you, I took your advice and got my CR-V checked out yesterday. You'll never believe it, but it was almost exactly what happened to you! They found two damaged ignition coils and a wonky knock sensor. The mechanic I went to was actually super nice, showed me all the worn-out parts and explained everything. Took about 5 hours total but my car's running like new again! The whole thing cost me a bit more than yours, but totally worth it. No more weird noises or jerking, and I'm not hemorrhaging fuel anymore. Really appreciate you sharing your experience, it gave me the push I needed to get it sorted before it got worse. What a relief to have this headache behind me! Funny how these Honda issues seem to run in patterns, right? Thanks again for all your help!

Hello,I have a CRV 1.6 diesel with 187.000 km.I started for a trip and for the first 100 km everything was normal, somewhere there I noticed a rise in the temperature needle and a slight loss of power,I thought it was my idea and continued for some kilometers.I finally stopped after a while because the needle kept going up and down.the mechanic told me that it might be a burnt gasket.the strange thing is that the car didn't do it again.(I forgot to mention that it had lost almost all of its paraflux) Because it didn't do anything again i started again for a long drive, this time all good for 150km and then the car started to have vibrations like it was clogged! they gradually got stronger and i had to get roadside assistance. i am waiting for a mechanic to see it. do you have any idea what it could be?

It sounds like you might be dealing with a couple of different issues here. The fluctuating temperature gauge and loss of coolant could indeed indicate a blown head gasket. However, the vibrations and loss of power could be due to a clogged fuel filter or a problem with the fuel injectors. I would recommend having the mechanic check both of these areas. Please keep us updated on what the mechanic finds.

Good morning, the vibrations that the car was vibrating was due to bad diesel, the result was emptying and cleaning the fuel tank, removing and cleaning the four injectors.fortunately they did not need to be changed as well as the oil pump.this problem was solved, as for the first one, I did not have a temperature rise again but the car still has a loss of coolant which we do not know yet because there is no obvious leak..
