Corsa EV Window Glitch: Seeking Trusted Mechanic Help

Fault stored

Power windows malfunction

Hi everyone, having trouble with my 2022 Vauxhall Corsa Electric (81,939 km). The power windows started acting up recently, and there's a fault code showing. I think it might be related to the window regulator learning process. My last experience with a mechanic wasn't great, so I'm a bit hesitant to go back. Has anyone dealt with similar window issues on their Corsa? Would love to hear about your experiences and maybe get some recommendations for reliable mechanics who know their way around electric Vauxhalls. Thanks in advance!

Hey there! I can relate to your window issues. I had something similar happen with my 2019 Vauxhall Mokka-e last month. Initially thought it was just the window mechanism, but it turned out to be battery-related. The low battery voltage was causing electrical systems to act up, including the power windows. Had to get my battery replaced at the garage. The whole process took about 2 hours, including the recalibration of various electrical components. Wasn't a super serious issue, but definitely needed proper attention to prevent more problems down the line. For EVs, these electrical glitches can often be traced back to the 12V auxiliary battery (not the main EV battery). My mechanic explained that when this battery starts failing, it can cause all sorts of weird electrical behaviors. If you're in the same boat, I'd suggest finding a garage that specializes in EVs, made a huge difference in my case. The right diagnostic equipment is crucial for these cars. Hope this helps with your situation!

Thanks for sharing your experience! That's really helpful to know about the battery connection, wouldn't have thought of that. Quick question, do you remember roughly how much you ended up paying for the battery replacement and fix? Also, has everything been running smoothly since then? I'm trying to get an idea of costs and whether it's likely to be a one-off fix or if I should expect other issues to pop up. Cheers!

Hey again! Yeah, happy to help! After getting it fixed, everything's been running perfectly smooth, no more window drama or any other electrical quirks. The total bill came to 290€, which included the battery replacement and all the recalibration work they had to do. The window regulator learning process that initially seemed to be the problem got sorted out once the new battery was in. I know it's not exactly cheap, but honestly, it was worth every penny to have it done properly. I've had zero issues since then, all the windows work like a charm, and the other electrical systems are working perfectly too. It's been about a month now, and the car's running better than ever. Based on what my mechanic told me, this is typically a one-off fix. The 12V batteries in EVs usually last several years before needing replacement, so you shouldn't have to worry about this particular issue coming up again anytime soon. Just make sure you go to someone who knows their stuff with EVs, makes all the difference! Let me know if you need anything else!

Thanks again! I bit the bullet and took it to a mechanic yesterday, an EV specialist this time. You were spot on about the battery! They found the same issue with the 12V battery affecting the electrical systems. Ended up paying about 310€ for the whole thing, slightly more than yours but still reasonable considering they did a full system check too. The best part? The windows are working perfectly now, and they even fixed a small charging issue I didn't even know I had. The mechanic was great, really took the time to explain everything and didn't try to upsell me on unnecessary stuff like my last experience. Really glad I asked here and got your advice. It saved me from going down the rabbit hole of window regulator repairs when the real issue was much simpler. The car's running like new again, and I've finally found a reliable mechanic I can trust. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction! All sorted now, and I've got their number saved for any future issues. Sometimes it really pays to ask around!
