Corsa EV's Stubborn Tire Pressure Sensor Mystery

Tire pressure to low

Hey there, looking for some advice about my 2021 Vauxhall Corsa (Electric). The tire pressure warning keeps coming on even though I've checked and filled the tires properly. Had a not-so-great experience with my regular mechanic last time, so I'm a bit hesitant to go back. Has anyone dealt with a faulty tire pressure monitoring system in their Corsa? Car's done about 238K km and I'm wondering if this is a common issue or if I should be looking at something else. Any suggestions on trusted mechanics who know their way around electric Corsas would be great too. Thanks in advance!

Hey! I had the exact same issue with my 2019 Vauxhall Mokka-e last year. The TPMS sensors were acting up just like yours. After checking my tires multiple times, I finally took it to a Vauxhall specialist garage. Turned out two of the TPMS antennas were defective and needed replacement. The mechanic explained that the antennas, which receive signals from the tire sensors, can deteriorate over time. It's not a critical safety issue, but it needs fixing to get accurate tire pressure readings and stop those annoying warnings. In my case, they had to replace both front wheel antennas and recalibrate the system. It's actually a fairly common issue with Vauxhall EVs, especially after high mileage. Your 238K km definitely puts you in the range where these components might need attention. I'd recommend finding a certified Vauxhall dealer or an EV specialist, this isn't something every regular mechanic is familiar with. Hope this helps!

Thanks this is exactly what I needed to hear! You're spot on, sounds just like what I'm dealing with. I'll definitely look into getting those TPMS antennas checked out. Just curious, do you remember roughly how much you ended up paying for the fix? Also, has everything been working smoothly since then, or have you had any other sensor issues pop up? Cheers!

Hey again! Yeah, happy to share the details! I actually just got it fixed last month, cost me 255€ at the Vauxhall dealer. The TPMS has been working like a charm since then, no more annoying warning lights or false readings. It's such a relief not having to check those tire pressures every other day! The mechanic did a proper job, replaced those faulty antennas and recalibrated everything. Money well spent if you ask me, especially since it was driving me nuts before. Haven't had any other sensor issues pop up since the fix, and I've put about 3,000 km on it already. Just a heads up, make sure whoever works on it knows their stuff with EVs. It might cost a bit more at a certified dealer, but at least you know they'll do it right the first time. Let me know how it goes when you get yours sorted!

Thanks so much for all the info! Just got back from the mechanic actually, and you won't believe it, my experience was totally different from my last visit. Found this certified Vauxhall dealer who really knew their stuff with EVs. The whole thing cost me about 280€, a bit more than what you paid, but they also found a small wiring issue they fixed while they were at it. The mechanic was super helpful, explained everything clearly, and got it all sorted in just a few hours. It's such a relief not seeing that warning light anymore! Did a long drive yesterday to test it out, and everything's working perfectly. Honestly, I should've done this sooner instead of stressing about it. Really appreciate you sharing your experience, helped me make the right call. Sometimes paying a bit extra for someone who knows what they're doing is totally worth it! Thanks again! Time to enjoy some warning-light-free driving!
