Corsa Electric: Parking Sensor Failure & Warning Light Issue

Hey everyone, my 2019 Vauxhall Corsa Electric has been acting up lately. The parking sensors stopped working completely, and I'm getting a general electrical fault warning in the speedometer cluster. My local garage mentioned it might be related to the parking aid system, but I'm looking to get more specific insights before taking it in for repairs. Has anyone dealt with similar parking sensor issues on their Corsa? What was the actual problem and how did your mechanic fix it? Any help would be much appreciated! Thanks in advance

Hey there! I've got some experience with EV electronics as I had a similar issue with my 2021 Vauxhall Mokka-e last year. Sounds very familiar to what you're describing. I took it to my regular workshop, and it turned out to be a loose cable connection in the parking sensor system. The mechanic found that moisture had caused some corrosion on one of the main connector pins. They had to clean and reseal the connection properly, which cost me about 170€ including diagnostics. Just to help you better, could you tell me if you've noticed any specific patterns when the fault occurs? Like does it happen more after rain or car washing? Also, which trim level is your Corsa-e? Some versions have different sensor setups. BTW, I'd say I have some experience with EVs, but I'm no expert, just sharing what worked for me. Hope this helps!

Thanks for the detailed response! My mileage is 22074 KM and I just had it serviced last month. Yeah, now that you mention it, I've noticed the warning usually pops up after it rains or when it's really humid outside. I've also spotted that sometimes the sensors work fine for a few minutes after starting the car, then suddenly cut out. Could definitely be that moisture issue you mentioned. Mine's the Elite Nav trim level, by the way. I'll get it checked out and specifically mention the connector pins to my mechanic. Cheers for the tip, really helpful to know what to look out for!

Hey again! Thanks for getting back with those details. Your symptoms definitely match what I experienced with my Mokka-e, especially that part about the sensors working briefly after startup and then failing. That's exactly what mine did! Since you've got the Elite Nav trim (pretty much the same sensor setup as my Mokka-e), and you're seeing the issue after rain, I'm even more convinced it's that connector problem I mentioned. Just a heads up, when my mechanic fixed it, they actually found that the sealant around the main sensor harness had deteriorated a bit, which was letting moisture seep in. They ended up replacing the sealant and adding some extra protection against water ingress. Quick tip from my experience, while you're waiting to get it to the mechanic, try to park in covered spots when possible, especially if rain is forecast. It won't fix the issue, but it might help prevent it from getting worse. Let me know how it goes when you get it checked out! Always curious to hear if others have the same fix as I did. These EVs are great, but sometimes these little electrical gremlins can be a pain, right?

I would complete the conversation from's perspective with: Thanks that's super helpful! I'll definitely try to keep it covered until I can get it to the mechanic next week. I've already booked it in and mentioned everything about the connector and sealant issue, they seemed to know exactly what I was talking about! It's really reassuring to hear from someone who's dealt with the same problem. I was worried it might be something major, but this sounds pretty straightforward to fix. I'll update you once it's sorted. Really appreciate all your advice and tips! This reply maintains the informal tone, acknowledges the helpful information provided, shows action being taken based on the advice, and naturally concludes the conversation with appreciation and a promise to follow up, all consistent with's previous communication style.
