Corsa-e Key Fob Mystery: Dead Antenna or Something Else?

Hey there, having some trouble with my 2022 Vauxhall Corsa-e (electric). The key fob's been acting up lately, and I suspect it might be the antenna in the bumper. Had a not-so-great experience with my previous mechanic, so I'm a bit hesitant about where to take it. Has anyone dealt with similar key fob issues on their Corsa? Car's done about 26K km and everything else works fine. Would love to hear about your experiences and if you can recommend a reliable mechanic who's good with these electrical issues. Thanks in advance!

Hey! I can relate to this! Had a similar issue with my 2020 Vauxhall Mokka-e last winter. The key fob started working intermittently, especially when trying to unlock from a distance. Took it to my regular garage, and they found it was indeed the antenna cable connection in the front bumper that had come loose. They fixed it by reseating and securing the cable properly, wasn't a major repair at all. The whole thing took about an hour and a half. The issue hasn't come back since. It's more of a nuisance than a serious problem, but definitely worth getting checked out before it gets worse. If you're worried about finding a good mechanic, I'd recommend going to a Vauxhall certified service center. These electrical issues are pretty common in modern cars, and they've got the right diagnostic tools for it.

Hey, thanks for sharing your experience! Good to hear it wasn't anything too serious with your Mokka. Just wondering, do you remember roughly how much they charged you for the fix? Also, has everything been working smoothly since then, or have you noticed any other quirks with the electrical system? I'm trying to get an idea of what I might be looking at cost-wise and whether I should expect any follow-up issues. Cheers!

Hey again! Actually just had this fixed last week, set me back about 260 Euro for the antenna cable connection repair. Honestly, it was worth every penny because the key fob's working perfectly now, no more frustrating moments in the parking lot! Since getting it sorted at the Vauxhall center, everything's been running like clockwork. No other electrical gremlins have popped up in my Mokka-e, and the remote locking works like a charm, even from a good distance. It's such a relief not having to stand right next to the car to get it to respond! Trust me, better to get it sorted sooner rather than later. The Vauxhall techs knew exactly what they were dealing with, seems like they've seen this issue before. They had my car back to me the same day, and I've had zero problems since. Sometimes these little electrical niggles can be a pain, but at least this one had a straightforward fix! Let me know how you get on with yours!

Thanks a lot for all the info! Took your advice and got it sorted at the Vauxhall center yesterday. Pretty similar to your experience, turned out to be a loose connection in the antenna system. They charged me 275 Euro, which wasn't too bad considering all the worry it was causing me. The mechanic was actually really helpful and showed me exactly what was wrong. The whole thing took about two hours, and they even gave the car a quick check-over while it was there. Pretty decent service, I must say! The key fob's working perfectly now, can unlock the car from across the parking lot without any issues. Definitely feel better about the whole thing now. Sometimes you just need that push to get these things sorted, so thanks for sharing your experience. Really helped me make the decision to get it fixed properly rather than trying to save a few quid at a unusual garage. Catch you later, and thanks again for the help!
