Hey, thanks for the tip! Your experience sounds really bad, good that you recognized it in time. Do you happen to remember what you paid for the repair, i.e. how much it cost? And how has the car been running since then, have there been any further problems or did everything run smoothly again afterwards? Looking forward to your feedback. Have a nice day!

Hey, no problem, you're welcome! I can't remember the exact amount for the brake repair, but what I can definitely say is that the problem with the brakes was no longer an issue for me. They are now in top shape again. However, fixing another problem - sporadic faulty communication between control units - was really expensive. That cost a hefty €955. But since then my Passat has been better again and I've had no further problems. So, after the workshop, everything went smoothly again. Of course, it's always a huge annoyance when things like this crop up, but at the end of the day, it's more important that you're safe on the road. Definitely have it looked at by someone who knows their way around. Have a safe journey!

Great, thank you very much for your detailed experience reports, they are very helpful! Oh man, that sounds really expensive with the control units, but I guess safety first. I'll follow your advice and see if I can find a good and fair mechanic to have a look at it. Wish you continued problem-free rides and thanks again for sharing your experiences. Take care!

Servus, That sounds like a worrying situation with your VW Sharan. If a warning light is illuminated, this could actually indicate the brakes, especially if you notice changes in braking behavior, such as longer braking distances, a squealing noise or a spongy pedal feel. In my case, the warning light came on and it turned out that the brake pads and brake discs were badly worn. The garage checked the brakes and replaced both the pads and the discs. They also bled the brake system and changed the brake fluid to make sure everything was working properly again. The total cost of the brake repair for me was around 500 euros, but this can of course vary depending on the garage and the parts required. It's important to ask for a clear estimate and maybe even get several quotes from different garages to make sure you're paying a fair price.

Hi, I recently had a similar problem with my 2011 VW Passat. The warning light also came on and it turned out to be a problem with the brakes. It was quite serious as the brake pads were completely worn out and the brake discs were already cracked. My buddy, who is also my mechanic, quickly recognized this and replaced both parts. So in my case it was definitely a problem with the brakes. Better have it checked by a professional. Of course, it could be something else, but I'd play it safe with signs like that. Have a good ride!
