Colt Diesel Climate Control Issues: Blower Fan Mystery

Insufficient Cooling/Heating

|

Blower does not work properly

Hey all, I'm having climate control issues with my 2012 Mitsubishi Colt Diesel. The blower fan is acting up and the heating/cooling performance is really poor. I suspect it might be related to the AUC sensor, but I'm not 100% sure. Has anyone dealt with similar symptoms? Would love to hear about your repair experiences and what the actual fix was. Thanks in advance!

Hey! I had a somewhat similar issue with my 2014 Mitsubishi Space Star (same family as your Colt). I've got some experience working on cars, mainly basic maintenance stuff. My blower was acting weird too, and it turned out to be a faulty AUC sensor. Took it to my regular workshop last summer, they diagnosed and replaced the sensor. Cost me around 90€ for the fix, and the heating/cooling has been working perfectly since then. What symptoms exactly are you experiencing? Also, what's your mileage? Might help narrow things down if you share more details.

Thanks for sharing your experience! My mileage is currently at 121795 KM, and I had my last service about 3 months ago. The symptoms I'm having sound pretty similar to what you described. The blower seems to have a mind of its own, sometimes it works fine, other times it barely pushes any air through, regardless of the setting. Did your mechanic mention how difficult the sensor replacement was? I'm trying to figure out if it's worth attempting it myself since I do some basic maintenance, or if I should just take it to a shop. Thanks!

Hey again! Yeah, I totally get where you're coming from with those symptoms, it's super frustrating when the blower acts up like that. My Space Star had pretty much identical issues before I got it fixed. From what I remember, my mechanic said replacing the AUC sensor itself wasn't super complicated, but accessing it was a bit tricky. They had to remove some dashboard components to get to it properly. Since you're comfortable with basic maintenance, you might be able to handle it, but honestly, for the labor cost involved (mine took about an hour), it might be worth just letting a pro deal with it. I didn't want to risk messing anything up in the dashboard area. Mine was at about 115000 KM when it started acting up, so pretty close to your mileage. Just a heads up, before you dive in, might be worth checking the blower motor resistor too. My mechanic initially thought that might be the culprit in my case before confirming it was the AUC sensor. Let me know how it goes if you decide to tackle it yourself! Always interested to hear how these fixes turn out.

Thanks so much for all the detailed info! You've definitely convinced me to let a professional handle this one. Even though I enjoy doing my own maintenance, I'd rather not risk messing with the dashboard components. I'll make sure to ask them to check both the AUC sensor and the blower motor resistor when I take it in. I've got an appointment scheduled for next week at my local Mitsubishi specialist, so I'll update this thread once I know what the actual problem was. Really appreciate your help and sharing your experience, it's made me feel much more confident about what to expect!
