Hey, thanks for the quick reply and the info. Sounds like a similar problem to mine. I'll have it checked at a trustworthy garage as you advised. Can you remember how much the repair ended up costing? Has anything else happened to your car since then or is everything running smoothly now?

Hey, no problem, glad to be able to help. After the visit to the mechanic, the swirl flap problem was indeed solved. And as for the cost, it was quite expensive - to be precise, I had to fork out €865 because the swirl flap was broken and of course had to be replaced. Since then, nothing else has happened and my car is purring like a kitten again. So get your cars checked by trustworthy mechanics, guys, it's really worth it!

Hey, great, thanks for the details. A bit expensive, but when the car is running again, it's worth the investment. It's reassuring to hear that everything has been okay with you since then. I'll find a good garage and get on with it. I hope my car runs as well as yours afterwards. Thanks again for the advice!

Hi, I have a Citroen C5, year 2014, and had the same problem with defective swirl flaps. Yes, it is a serious problem. I also had the loss of power, rough running and jerking under acceleration, even the black smoke. I finally went to the garage. There they discovered that the swirl flaps were broken. So they had to be replaced. It was quite a laborious job, especially because they had to check and clean the affected parts really thoroughly to make sure there was no further damage. It took patience and some time, but everything was fine afterwards. I recommend having it checked by a reliable mechanic. It will be worth it. Good luck!
