Citroen Ccrosser 2011: Problems with engine control light, weak engine performance and high fuel consumption

Check engine light on

Loss of engine power

Weird engine noise

Poor fuel economy

Jerking on acceleration

Hey all you car professionals, I currently have a problem with my 2011 Citroen Ccrosser petrol engine. The check engine light is on, the engine performance is weak, the car jerks when accelerating, has high fuel consumption and I hear a strange engine noise. I have a feeling that it might have something to do with knocking combustion on at least one cylinder. Have any of you ever had similar problems and could help me? I'm particularly interested in how your garage has solved the problem and what your experiences have been. I would appreciate any tips! Thanks in advance!

Hi. I had a similar problem with my 2009 Citroen C5 a few years ago. I would say I have a medium level of experience with cars. I took it to the garage on the next street. They found out that deposits in the combustion chamber were causing the problem. The solution was to do an engine clean and remove the deposits. This cost around 425 euros. Without precise vehicle data and information, it is difficult to provide accurate assistance. Could you perhaps tell me the mileage, maintenance history and other specific symptoms or code numbers of diagnostic equipment? Then we can probably go into more detail. Hope that helps!

Thanks for the quick reply. My Ccrosser now has 94066 kilometers on it. The last service was about two months ago. Everything was still top notch then. Unfortunately I don't have any specific diagnostic codes to hand. Apart from the symptoms already mentioned, there's nothing major to add. Do you think that an engine cleaning could be the solution for me? Of course, 425 euros is a lot, but if it helps... What do you think?

Hey, if the symptoms are similar and your car has similar mileage to mine, then an engine cleaning might actually help, especially if you feel it might be related to knocking combustion. But it's always hard to say without seeing or hearing the car yourself. The cleaning worked pretty well for me at the time and I had no more problems afterwards. Although €425 is a lot of money to start with, it might be worth it compared to the cost of ignoring the problem. Ultimately, I would recommend that you visit a garage and get the opinion of a specialist. This will give you an accurate diagnosis and you can be sure that your money is well invested. I hope this helps you. I'll keep my fingers crossed that it's only a minor problem and can be fixed quickly!

Hi, thanks for your feedback and honest opinion. That does sound plausible and I think I should visit my garage and discuss the engine cleaning. Hearing your positive experience is reassuring, although it may cost 425 euros, but you're right, it could cost more in the long run if I ignored the problem. Thanks for the advice, really helpful! Keep your fingers crossed and stay healthy. See you then!
