Thank you very much for your answer! I really wouldn't have thought that the problem could be with the engine control unit. Thanks for the tip, I'll definitely have it checked. Could you perhaps tell me how much the replacement cost you? I just want to know roughly what I might have to pay. And have you noticed any after-effects since then? All the best and thanks again!

Hello again, I'm glad I could help you a little! In my case, replacing the engine control unit cost a total of 1000 euros. I really had to dig deep into my pockets, but believe me, it was worth every penny. As for the problem with the ignition coil or the misfiring - nothing has happened since I had the mechanic look at it. My Citroen is running like a kitten again and no longer shows any of the worrying signs that almost made me despair. The initial investment is really steep, but bear in mind that you'll also save a lot on fuel costs in the long run when your car is running smoothly again. So don't be discouraged if the costs seem a bit high at first glance. Hopefully it's the same for you and you'll soon be enjoying driving again! All the best and let us know if anything new comes up!

Hello, of course the 1000 euros hurt at first, but you're absolutely right. In the long term, it's definitely the more sensible investment. I'm really pleased to hear that you haven't had any further problems since the repair. That gives me hope! I'll ask my mechanic about the engine control unit next week and see what he has to say. I'll be happy to give you an update on how it went. Thanks again for your advice, that helped me a lot. All the best to you too and happy driving!

Hi, your problem reminds me of what I experienced with my 2006 Citroen C3. A similar symptom picture showed me that the engine control unit was faulty and not the ignition coil as I originally thought. My car was quite rough to drive and I also had trouble starting, just as you described. So for me it was a really serious issue, and I suspect it is for you too. The workshop had to completely replace the control unit, and after this repair my car ran much better again and without the symptoms I mentioned before. Of course, you can't give an absolute guarantee with any repair, but in my case the engine control unit was definitely the culprit. I would therefore recommend that you have your mechanic look at the engine control unit instead of just checking the ignition coil. This could be the real problem with your car. Hopefully my experience will help you. All the best!
