Thanks for the tip! I've already driven the little runabout 52593 kilometers and the last time it was serviced was about 2000 kilometers ago. Strangely enough, there were no problems. Of course, I can't rule out the possibility that it could be the engine control unit... Does it make sense to take it to the garage now or do you think I could drive a bit further to make sure it really is the engine control unit? After all, I don't want to throw money away unnecessarily. Do you think it's necessary for me to take action now?

Hey, I wouldn't wait too long with problems like this. The overheating condition could damage the engine. And if it really is the engine control unit, other vehicle components could also be affected by its defect. Regarding your question - yes, I would advise you to go to the garage straight away. I know it's annoying to spend money on repairs, but in this case it could help prevent bigger and more expensive damage. Better safe than sorry, right? And be sure to have the fault memory read out at the garage. It's also possible that your coolant temperature sensor isn't working properly after all. Stay safe and have it checked!

Thank you for your quick reply and the helpful advice. You're absolutely right, I shouldn't take this lightly. I will visit a garage immediately and have the points mentioned checked. I realize that repairs can be expensive, but as you said, it's better to spend some money now and avoid major damage and costs. I'll let you know how it goes. Thanks again for your help!

Hi, I have had this code twice. First of all i had replaced the temp sensor and cleared the code. And it went but its back again about 3 weeks later. In live date I have temp readings that increase when driving but seem to top out at about 50 degrees which doesn’t seem hot enough. What could cause this? Could the new sensor really fail after 3 weeks!

It's unlikely but not impossible for a new sensor to fail so quickly. However, before jumping to conclusions, it's worth checking a few other things. First, ensure that the coolant level is correct and that there are no leaks. Then, check the thermostat. If it's stuck open, it could cause the engine to run cooler than normal. Also, make sure the wiring and connections to the coolant temperature sensor are in good condition. If all these checks are fine, it might be worth having the new sensor tested to confirm if it's faulty or not. Please update us on your progress. Do you have any other questions?

Hey, your problem sounds familiar. I had similar problems with my 2008 Citroen C3. I have very little experience with cars, so I went to my trusted garage. They discovered that my engine control unit was faulty. It was an expensive affair, I paid around 1000 euros to have it repaired. Could it also be the engine control unit in your case? It would be helpful if you could give me a few more details about your vehicle. Then I might be able to help you more precisely!
