Thanks for sharing your experience. Had almost the same symptoms with my 2012 GrandVoyager, failed obstacle detection and black camera screen. The control module had to be replaced along with two faulty radar sensors. Just wondering how much you ended up paying for your wiring harness repair? Also, have you noticed any other issues with the proximity sensors since getting it fixed?

Thanks for asking about the costs. The parking assist issue with my Chrysler got resolved at a much lower price than a full control module replacement. The faulty wiring repair only came to 95€, which covered fixing a damaged cable connection in the trunk area. Since the repair, the parking aid system has worked flawlessly. The obstacle detection sensors respond properly, the camera displays clearly, and all proximity sensors function as they should. No recurring issues in the past months. The key was finding that it was just a connector problem rather than needing to replace the entire control module or multiple sensors. Good wiring diagnostics saved quite a bit of money in this case. The parking sensors and camera all started working again once the connection was properly restored. This kind of electrical repair is worth checking first before going for more expensive component replacements, as faulty wiring is often the root cause of parking assist failures.

I took my GrandVoyager to a new mechanic last week after gathering advice here. Really glad I did, turns out the main issue was much simpler than expected. The technician found corroded wiring connections affecting both the rearview camera and proximity sensors. After a thorough diagnostic check, they cleaned and repaired the faulty wiring connections near the trunk area. The entire repair, including labor, came to 320€. While higher than a simple wiring fix, it was still far cheaper than my previous mechanic's quote for replacing the entire control module. All parking assistance features are now working perfectly, the ultrasonic sensors detect obstacles properly, and the camera display is crystal clear. The repair shop also checked all sensor connections to prevent future issues. Really appreciate the advice about checking wiring first. Saved me from unnecessarily replacing expensive components when the root cause was just damaged connections. Will definitely stick with this mechanic for future repairs.

Had the same issue on my 2015 Chrysler Town & Country Diesel. The complete failure of blind spot sensors and parking assistance turned out to be a damaged wiring harness connector near the trunk latch. The ultrasonic sensors and camera system share a common power feed through this area. The main symptoms matched exactly, black screen on reverse, no radar sensors activating, and obstacle detection system completely unresponsive. Initially thought it was sensor failure, but diagnostic testing revealed the connector was corroded and had some pins pushed back. The repair involved replacing the main harness connector and reseating all proximity sensor connections. This resolved both the camera and parking aid functionality. While not a complex fix, accessing the wiring required partial removal of interior trunk panels. This is typically not a serious issue, but leaving it unfixed can lead to water ingress and further electrical problems. The repair requires proper diagnostic equipment to verify all parking assistance systems are communicating correctly after the fix. Based on those symptoms, recommend having the wiring connections checked first before replacing any sensors or modules.
