Thanks so much for sharing your experience! That's really helpful, especially knowing it's a known issue with these models. Quick follow-up, do you remember roughly how much you ended up paying for the repair? And has everything been working fine since then, or have you noticed any other electrical quirks popping up?
Hey again! Happy to help with an update. After getting it fixed up at my specialist, I ended up paying 155€ for sorting out that faulty cable connection on the Flex-Ray bus. It was basically just a dodgy connection that needed proper attention. Since getting it sorted, my Panamera's been running like a dream, no more annoying warning lights or navigation blackouts. It's such a relief when these electrical gremlins get sorted properly! The error messages on the Flex-Ray bus have completely disappeared, and honestly, it feels like I've got a different car now. Everything's working exactly as it should. I'm really glad I went to a proper Porsche specialist rather than trying to save a few bucks at a regular garage. These guys really know their stuff when it comes to Porsche's electrical systems. Let me know if you need any other info, happy to share more details about my experience!
Thanks a lot for all the details! I actually just got back from a Porsche specialist I found through your advice. You were spot on about the ground cable issue, that's exactly what they found on my Cayenne too! Ended up paying about 180€, which wasn't as bad as I feared. It's been about a week now, and all those annoying electrical problems have disappeared. The navigation's working perfectly, and those unusual warning lights are gone. Such a relief! Really glad I took your advice about going to a specialist instead of trying to save money at my regular mechanic. Funny how these supposedly complex problems sometimes come down to something as simple as a corroded connection, right? Thanks again for pointing me in the right direction, you saved me a lot of headache and probably money too. Really appreciate your help!
Hey! I can relate to this! Had similar issues with my 2010 Porsche Panamera Diesel last year (which shares some electronics with the Cayenne). Started with unusual navigation blackouts and warning lights, just like yours. Turned out it was a corroded main ground cable connection near the battery, plus a loose plug connection at the CAN bus module. My indie Porsche specialist spotted it pretty quick, he said it's actually a known issue on these models. The fix wasn't too complex, but finding the exact problem point needed proper diagnostic equipment. They had to clean the ground connections, replace one damaged connector, and reset the system. Wasn't a major repair in terms of parts, but definitely needed someone who knows Porsche electronics well. Try finding a specialized Porsche workshop rather than a general mechanic. These electrical gremlins need proper diagnostic tools and experience with Porsche systems. The symptoms you're describing are pretty much identical to what I experienced. Good luck with the fix!
