Thanks for sharing your experience with the Enclave. I had the same parking assist problems on my 2007 Terraza last winter. The ultrasonic sensors were giving false readings and eventually failed completely. Just curious, do you remember what the final repair cost was? My dealer quoted pretty high, but Im wondering if I overpaid. Also, has the system worked reliably since your fix? No more issues with the obstacle detection or proximity sensors?

After getting it fixed at the shop, the parking assist system on my Enclave has worked flawlessly. The total repair cost came to 95€ for fixing a faulty cable connection between the ultrasonic sensors and the control module. This was much more reasonable than I initially expected. The problem turned out to be exactly what I suspected, corrosion in the wiring harness affecting the obstacle detection system. The technician found moisture damage at one of the connector plugs near the rear bumper. They cleaned the connection points and replaced the affected wiring section rather than the entire harness or sensors. Since the repair six months ago, all proximity sensors have functioned perfectly. The blind spot sensors and parking assist features are back to normal with no false readings or error messages. It was definitely worth having a qualified technician diagnose and fix the exact issue rather than replacing components unnecessarily. Based on your description, it sounds like you may have had a similar wiring problem with your Terraza. If your repair cost was significantly higher, they might have replaced sensors or other components that potentially didnt need replacing.

Thanks everyone for the input. I finally got my Terraza fixed last week. Took it to a new shop after getting frustrated with my regular mechanic. The control module was actually fine, turned out the obstacle detection system was failing because of damaged wiring, just like others mentioned. Two ultrasonic sensors needed replacing due to water damage, but the rest were working properly. Total repair cost was €450 including parts and labor. The blind spot sensors are all working perfectly now, and the parking assist gives accurate readings again. No more error messages or false alarms. Much better experience with this shop, they took time to properly diagnose instead of just replacing everything. Wish I had gone there first instead of wasting time with the previous mechanic who wanted to replace the entire system. Good to know these wiring issues are common. Will definitely keep an eye on the connections and watch for any moisture damage in the future.

Had a similar issue on my Buick Enclave 2010. The parking assist system failed completely, showing system errors. The ultrasonic sensors stopped detecting objects, and the rearview camera display went blank. After diagnostic testing, it turned out to be faulty wiring between the control module and the blind spot sensors. The wire harness had corroded near the rear bumper, causing intermittent connection issues. This is actually a common problem in these models after extended use. The repair involved replacing the damaged wire harness and reconnecting all parking assist components. While not a major mechanical issue affecting vehicle operation, it required careful troubleshooting since multiple sensors were involved. The system needed recalibration after the repair. Worth checking the wire connections first, sometimes moisture gets in and corrodes the plugs. Have a technician scan for specific sensor codes to pinpoint which part of the system is failing. In most cases, its either wiring issues or failed ultrasonic sensors, rather than the main control module. This kind of repair should be handled by someone familiar with parking assist systems, as improper diagnosis can lead to unnecessary parts replacement.
