Breakdowns and irregularities in the 2021 Mercedes GLK Diesel

Jerking on acceleration

Check engine light on

Unsteady engine

Engine shuts off by itself

Car won't start

Loss of engine power

Longer cold start time

Hello everyone, I have a question about my 2021 Mercedes GLK Class Diesel with 106413km mileage. During my last visit to the mechanic I unfortunately had trouble and now the good piece shows various symptoms that I am really worried about: The check engine light comes on, the engine just cuts out, the cold start takes longer, there is a noticeable loss of power, the engine runs rough, it jerks when accelerating and sometimes the car won't even start. I suspect it could be the fuel pump. Has anyone here in the forum had similar experiences and how did it go with your mechanic? Thanks in advance and best regards!

Hi, This seemed very familiar to me with my 2018 Mercedes CLA Class Diesel. I had similar symptoms. The wrong software values for the fuel pump were the problem. It was a serious problem because it severely affected the good running of my car. In detail, I went to the mechanic because the car was difficult to start and suddenly stopped. He did a diagnosis and found that the software values for the fuel pump were wrong. As a result, too little fuel was being pumped through the pump, which caused the engine to stall. Over time, the constant cold starts and poor engine performance only got worse. They then reset the software and usually that is enough to fix the problem. In my case they still had to flush the fuel lines, but after that my car ran as normal again. Good luck with your car, hopefully it's nothing serious. Try the software, maybe that will help. Give it a try and report back how it went.

Hello, thank you very much for your reply. It's really relieving to hear that it could just be a software problem and therefore perhaps not so expensive. Do you remember how expensive the whole thing was for you? Has another problem occurred since then? It would be really helpful if you could remember. Thank you in advance and have a safe journey!

Hello, no stress, I can still remember exactly. The costs were not at all as high as you might think. It cost me a total of €45 to reset the software for the fuel pump. So it was really manageable. And the good news: since I've been to the mechanic and the fault in the fuel pump has been rectified, the car has been running perfectly again. There have been no further problems so far. I hope it goes as smoothly for you too. Keep your fingers crossed that your car gets back on track quickly. Let us know how it turns out for you, will you? Have a safe journey!

Hi man, that's really good news! I was really beginning to suspect the worst. Thanks for the info that it only cost around €45 and that you really haven't had any problems since. That really gives me hope. I'll let you know when I get back from the mechanic. Thanks again for your help and have a safe journey! Best regards!

Hello everyone, I had similar problems with my Mercedes GLK Diesel, which sounded very much like a fault with the fuel pump. I also had the check engine light on, the engine sometimes stalled and there was a noticeable loss of power, especially when accelerating. The cold start took longer than usual and sometimes the car wouldn't start at all. A comprehensive diagnosis was first carried out in the workshop. The fuel pump was checked and ultimately identified as the cause of the problems. The pump was then replaced. In addition, the workshop cleaned the fuel system and checked the fuel lines to ensure that there were no further blockages or leaks. The total repair cost for me was around 700 euros, but this can vary depending on the garage and the extent of the work required. I hope your GLK is running smoothly again soon!
