Thanks for sharing your experience! That's super helpful since it sounds exactly like what I'm dealing with. My car's running so much better now after getting it fixed. Just curious, do you remember roughly how much you ended up paying for the repair? Also, has everything been running smoothly since then, or have you noticed any other issues pop up?
Hey there! Glad to hear you got your BR-V sorted out! Yeah, my repair bill came to exactly 95€ for fixing that pesky wiring harness. The mechanic showed me the old one and wow, those wires were definitely shot! Best money I've spent on the car recently, to be honest. Since getting it fixed, my HR-V's been running like a dream. No more jerky acceleration, the idle's smooth as silk, and my fuel economy is back to normal. It's such a relief not seeing that check engine light anymore! The repair completely solved all those annoying symptoms we were both experiencing. I've put about 5,000 km on it since the fix, and everything's still working perfectly. Haven't had a single issue pop up. Just goes to show how important it is to address these sensor problems quickly, definitely worth every cent of that repair bill. Quick tip, I've started doing regular checks under the hood now, just to catch any potential wire damage early. Better safe than sorry, right?
Thanks for the follow-up! I've definitely learned my lesson about regular maintenance checks. After your advice, I took my BR-V to a certified mechanic. The whole ordeal cost me around 120€, a bit more than yours because they found some additional wear on nearby components. The repair process was super smooth. The mechanic was really thorough and even showed me what was causing the problem. It turned out you were right, there was some damage to the wiring harness, and they also spotted a few other minor issues they fixed while they were at it. My car's been running like new for the past two weeks, no more check engine light, smooth acceleration, and my fuel consumption is back to normal. Such a relief! I've also started doing those regular under-hood checks you mentioned. Never thought I'd say this, but I'm actually enjoying learning more about car maintenance! Thanks again for all your help. It's great to have the car back in proper working order without breaking the bank!
I had almost identical issues with my 2016 Honda HR-V last month. The symptoms you're describing match exactly what I experienced, power loss, rough idle, and that annoying jerky acceleration, especially when trying to pass on the highway. Did a diagnostic scan and it was indeed the intake manifold pressure sensor wiring harness. Had a partial break in the wiring that was causing intermittent connection issues. The mechanic found some rodent damage near the connector, which apparently isn't uncommon. It's not a super serious issue if fixed promptly, but leaving it unfixed can potentially damage your engine in the long run due to improper air-fuel mixture. The repair involved replacing the entire wiring harness section since splicing wasn't recommended for this particular component. The job took about 2-3 hours at the shop. Make sure whoever works on it uses OEM parts, I learned that aftermarket sensors can be hit or miss for this particular repair. Also, have them check the surrounding wiring while they're at it, if there's rodent damage, there might be more issues lurking nearby.
