Thanks for sharing your experience! That sounds exactly like what I'm dealing with. I'm gonna schedule an appointment with the dealer asap. Just curious, do you remember roughly how much you ended up paying for the fix? Also, has everything been running smoothly since then, or have you noticed any other quirks with the system?
Hey again! Just wanted to follow up about the repair costs since you asked. I had it fixed at the dealer and the total came to 200€ for replacing the faulty GPS antenna. And I've got great news, since getting it repaired, my navigation system has been working like a charm! Not a single glitch or signal drop in sight. It's been super reliable, just like it should be. The repair was definitely worth every penny, and I'm really glad I went with the dealer on this one. They knew exactly what they were doing, and now my Cayman's GPS is as good as new. Trust me, once they fix that antenna, you'll be back to hassle-free navigation. Hope this helps with your decision!
Just got back from the Porsche dealer, and I'm so glad I followed your advice! Turned out it was indeed the antenna, just like you said. The whole thing was pretty straightforward, dropped the car off in the morning and got it back by afternoon. Bill came to about 180 €, which was actually a bit less than I expected after hearing your experience. The funny part was when the mechanic showed me the old antenna, it was totally corroded! He said it's a common issue with our models, especially in humid climates. They installed a newer version that's supposed to be more weather-resistant. Been testing the GPS for the past couple of days, and it's working perfectly now. No more signal drops or weird glitches. Really appreciate everyone's help on this, saved me from going back to my old mechanic who probably would've just scratched his head at the problem!
I had a similar issue with my 2019 Porsche Cayman last summer. The GPS would out of nowhere drop signal or not connect at all. Took it to the official Porsche service center and they diagnosed it as a faulty GPS antenna – the connection had corroded over time. They had to replace the entire antenna unit since it's a sealed component. It wasn't a complicated fix, but definitely needed proper diagnostic equipment to confirm the issue. The repair took about 2 hours. Since then, the navigation system has worked perfectly. Before the repair, I tried cleaning the antenna area and checking for loose connections, but that didn't help. It's really something that needs professional attention, particularly with Porsche's integrated systems. If you're experiencing complete signal loss, it's likely the same antenna issue I had. I'd recommend going to an authorized Porsche dealer for this one.
