Thanks for sharing that! Sounds really similar to what I'm experiencing with my Raider. By the way, do you remember roughly how much you ended up paying for the repair? And has everything been running smooth since then, or did you run into any other issues? Just trying to get an idea of what I might be looking at cost-wise and if I should expect any follow-up problems.
Hey again! Happy to update you on my Outlander situation. Since getting it fixed, it's been running smooth as silk, no more bouncing around like a kangaroo! The repair totally sorted out that annoying warning light and the weird suspension behavior. Cost me 155€ to fix that faulty cable connection, which honestly wasn't as bad as I was expecting. The mechanic spotted that the error was in the damper adjustment system of the chassis right away, exactly what you're describing with your Raider. Once they fixed the cable connection, everything went back to normal. Haven't had a single issue since then, and it's been several months now. The ride feels just like when I first got the car. For what it's worth, I'd say get it checked out sooner rather than later. These electrical issues with the suspension can get worse if you leave them too long. It's definitely worth getting a proper diagnosis, might save you from bigger headaches down the road!
Thanks so much for all the details! I bit the bullet and took my Raider to a new mechanic yesterday. You were spot on, it was an electrical issue with the suspension system. The mechanic found a similar problem with corroded wiring in the damper control unit. Ended up costing me about 180€, a bit more than yours but still reasonable. The whole experience wasn't nearly as stressful as I thought it would be. The new mechanic was super transparent about everything, showed me the faulty parts, and explained what needed fixing. Took my car for a test drive today and wow, what a difference! No more bouncing around, and that pesky warning light is finally gone. Really glad I didn't put this off any longer. Thanks again for sharing your experience, it gave me the push I needed to get this sorted out!
Hey there! I had a similar issue with my 2010 Mitsubishi Outlander last summer. When I got that bouncy ride and warning light, I thought it was just the dampers too. Took it to my local garage, and turns out it was more than just suspension, there was a faulty cable connection between the damper control unit and the sensors. The bouncing was happening because the system wasn't getting proper readings. The fix wasn't super complicated, they had to replace some corroded wiring and recalibrate the suspension control system. It wasn't a major repair in terms of mechanical work, but leaving it unfixed could've led to bigger problems with the suspension components over time. If you're getting warning lights along with the bouncing, definitely get it checked soon. Those warning lights usually mean there's an electrical issue in the mix. Mine started just like yours, bouncy ride, especially noticeable over small bumps, and that annoying warning light wouldn't go away.
