Thanks for sharing your experience! My XM currently has 94331 KM on the odometer, and I just had my latest service done two weeks ago. The issue started about 10 days ago, and I haven't noticed any other electrical problems. Everything else seems to be working fine. Good to know about your experience with the backup battery, that actually makes a lot of sense given the symptoms. I'll definitely get it checked out soon, especially since it's a safety feature. Thanks for the tip about the potential cost too, that helps with planning!
Hey again! Yeah, after reading about your mileage and the timing of the issue, I'm even more convinced it's the same problem I had with my X6. It's interesting that it started right after your service, sometimes these issues can pop up coincidentally around maintenance visits. When my backup battery failed, it was also the only electrical issue I had. Everything else was working perfectly fine, just like in your case. These backup batteries typically last around 3-4 years, so with your mileage, it's about the right time for it to need replacement. Quick tip from my experience, when I got mine fixed, the workshop also did a full system check of the emergency call unit just to make sure there weren't any other underlying issues. Might be worth asking them to do the same for yours. The whole thing took less than an hour to fix. Let me know how it goes when you get it checked out. I'm curious if it turns out to be exactly the same issue. The symptoms are really spot-on with what I experienced!
Thanks so much for all the helpful information! I really appreciate you taking the time to share your detailed experience and following up. I've just scheduled an appointment at the workshop for next week, and I'll definitely ask them to do that full system check you mentioned. It's quite reassuring to know this is likely a straightforward fix, especially since the symptoms match up so perfectly with what you experienced. It's good timing too, better to catch these things early rather than wait for a more serious problem. I'll update you once I get it sorted out. Thanks again for all your help and those specific tips about the diagnostic process, they'll definitely come in handy when I talk to the workshop!
Hi! I have some experience working on cars and had a similar issue with my 2021 BMW X6. The emergency call system was acting up just like yours. I took it to my regular workshop and they diagnosed it as a completely discharged emergency backup battery. They had to replace the battery unit, and it cost me around 110 Euro for the whole fix including labor. The system has been working perfectly since then. Could you tell me how long you've noticed this issue and if you've had any other electrical problems? Also, what's the mileage on your XM? This info would help me understand if you're facing the exact same problem I had with my X6. Just a heads up, these emergency battery issues shouldn't be ignored since they're crucial for safety features. Better to get it checked soon!
