Thanks for sharing your experience, that's really helpful! Dealing with the same headache right now. Sounds like I'm in for a proper repair job rather than a quick fix. Just wondering, do you remember roughly how much you ended up paying for the whole thing? Also, has everything been running smoothly since the replacement, or have you noticed any other issues pop up?
Hey again! Just wanted to update you on my blower motor saga. Got it fixed last week and I'm happy to report it's working perfectly now! The total damage was 365€ for replacing the defective blower motor, not cheap, but honestly worth every penny to have proper climate control again. The repair shop confirmed what I mentioned before, the motor was completely shot and needed a full replacement. Since the fix, everything's been running like a charm. The air flow is actually better than it was even before it failed, which makes me think it had been gradually declining without me noticing. No other issues have popped up since the repair. The climate control system is working exactly as it should, all vents are pushing out air with good pressure, and the speed control is responding perfectly. I can finally enjoy my drives without sweating or freezing! Trust me, while the cost might seem steep, it's definitely worth getting it done properly. Modern BMWs really need proper attention when it comes to these kinds of repairs. Let me know if you end up getting yours fixed, would be interested to hear how it goes!
Thanks for the update! I actually just got mine fixed yesterday. The mechanic I found was really honest and did a great job. You were spot on about the complete motor replacement, there was no way around it. My final bill came to a bit more than yours, but I guess that's just how it goes. The best part is feeling that strong airflow again! Didn't realize how bad it had gotten before it completely died. The mechanic showed me the old motor, and wow, it was in rough shape. Guess that's what happens after 180K km of use. Really appreciate all your help and advice on this. It definitely made me feel better about biting the bullet and getting it properly fixed rather than trying to find a cheaper workaround. The car's running great now, and the climate control is working better than it has in ages. Lesson learned, sometimes you just have to invest in proper repairs to keep these luxury cars running right!
Hey there! I had a similar issue with my 2019 BMW X7 last year. The blower motor died completely, no air coming through any vents, just like yours. Initially thought it was just a fuse, but the diagnostic showed the motor itself was toast. My blower motor had debris buildup and worn bearings, which eventually caused it to fail. It wasn't just a minor repair, the entire blower motor assembly needed replacement. The job took about 4 hours at the shop since they had to remove several components to access the blower motor behind the dash. It's not something I'd recommend trying as a DIY job unless you're really experienced with BMW systems. After the replacement, everything worked perfectly again. While it wasn't a critical safety issue, it sure made driving uncomfortable without climate control. Given your mileage, it's not unusual for the blower motor to fail. My advice would be to get it fixed soon before winter or summer hits, you'll definitely want your climate control working then. On modern BMWs like yours, these blower motors are pretty sophisticated units with integrated control modules, so partial repairs usually aren't an option.
