Wipers don't work properly

Thanks for sharing that! Really helpful to know it was just a wiring issue and not something major. Been meaning to ask, do you remember roughly how much you ended up paying for the repair? Also, just curious if you've had any other wiper problems since they fixed it? My X7 is still under warranty but I'd like to know what I'm potentially looking at cost-wise if something similar happens down the road. Thanks again for the input!
Hey again! Happy to give you an update. After taking it to the mechanic, they diagnosed and fixed the issue, it was indeed a faulty wiper relay just as I suspected. The problem turned out to be a bad cable connection to the component. Total cost came to 95 € for the repair, which wasn't too bad considering how finicky these electrical systems can be. And to answer your other question, nope, haven't had a single problem with the wipers since getting it fixed. They're working perfectly now, both in manual and auto modes. The repair has held up great through all weather conditions. For future reference, if your X7 is still under warranty, definitely take advantage of that! While my repair wasn't super expensive, it's always nice to avoid paying if you don't have to. The newer BMWs are amazing cars but these little electrical quirks can pop up from time to time. Let me know if you need any other info about the repair. Always happy to help out a fellow BMW owner!
Thanks everyone for your advice! Just wanted to give you all an update on my X7's wiper situation. I finally took it to the mechanic yesterday. The guy was super thorough and found that it was actually a blown fuse and some corroded wiring, pretty similar to what some of you mentioned. Got it all sorted in about an hour and a half. Since it's still under warranty, I didn't have to pay anything, which was a huge relief. The mechanic was really great about explaining everything and even showed me the damaged parts. The wipers are working perfectly now, tested them this morning and the error code is gone too. Honestly, I was worried it would be something major, but it turned out to be a pretty straightforward fix. Really appreciate all your input, it helped me know what to expect when I went in. These BMWs can be tricky sometimes, but at least this story had a happy ending!
I had a similar issue with my 2020 BMW X5 last month. The wipers stopped responding completely, and I got the error message too. Took it to the dealer's shop, and turns out it was a faulty connection in the wiring harness where it connects to the wiper motor. The pins had corroded due to water seepage. Not a major repair, they cleaned the connections, replaced the damaged pins, and added some dielectric grease to prevent future corrosion. The whole thing took about 2 hours. The wiper motor and relay were perfectly fine, which was good news since those are more complex to replace. For these electrical issues on newer BMWs, I'd recommend going to a certified BMW shop. They have the right diagnostic tools and can properly check the CAN bus system, which regular shops might struggle with. Hope this helps with your decision. Let us know what you find out.
