BMW X7 Misfire Mystery: Rough Running Engine Needs Help

Jerking on acceleration

Check engine light on

Shaking while idling

X7 Running Rough, Misfire Issues, Need Advice Hey everyone! My 2023 BMW X7 (66k km) has been acting up lately. The engine runs rough, especially when accelerating, with noticeable jerking. Getting poor response when pressing the gas, and the check engine light just popped on. Pretty sure it's misfiring. Had a not-so-great experience with my previous mechanic, so I'm hesitant about where to take it. Has anyone dealt with similar symptoms in their X7? Any recommendations on what to check first or experiences with getting this fixed? Thanks in advance!

I had almost identical issues with my 2020 BMW X5 40i last year. The symptoms match exactly what you're describing, rough running, jerking during acceleration, and hesitation when pressing the gas pedal. After diagnostic tests at the garage, it turned out to be a faulty fuel injector in cylinder 3. The injector wasn't spraying fuel properly, causing incomplete combustion and misfires. Had to get the injector replaced, and they also cleaned the other injectors while they were at it. This was definitely a serious issue that needed immediate attention to prevent further engine damage. The repair took about a day. Ever since the fix, the car has been running smoothly with no issues. Given your symptoms, I'd strongly suggest getting it checked soon, these problems typically don't resolve themselves and can worsen over time. Make sure wherever you take it has proper diagnostic equipment for BMW engines. A good shop will be able to pinpoint exactly which cylinder is misfiring through the error codes.

Thanks for sharing your experience! That's super helpful, as it sounds exactly like what I'm dealing with. Glad to hear you got it sorted with the injector replacement. Just curious, do you remember roughly how much the repair set you back? And has everything been running smoothly since then? I want to get a ballpark figure before heading to the shop, and it's always good to know if any related issues popped up later.

Hey there! Happy to update you on my X5 situation. The injector fix worked like a charm, absolutely no misfires or rough running since I got it sorted. Total bill came to 515 € for replacing the faulty injector, and honestly, it was worth every penny. Since you asked about how it's running, the car feels like new again! No more of that annoying jerking during acceleration, and the engine response is back to being crisp and smooth. The combustion misfires that were showing up in the diagnostics are completely gone now. I actually just took it for a long drive last weekend, and it performed perfectly. Just make sure you get it checked out soon, mine got way better after fixing the injection valve, and it's such a relief not having to worry about those symptoms anymore. Trust me, you'll notice the difference right away once it's fixed. The engine should run as smooth as butter, just like these cars are meant to! Let me know if you need any other details about the repair. Always happy to help out a fellow BMW owner!

Just wanted to update everyone, took your advice and got my X7 checked out today. Good call on getting it done quickly! Turns out it was actually two faulty injectors causing all the trouble. The mechanic I found was really thorough and knew BMWs well. The repair took about 4 hours and cost more than yours since I needed two injectors replaced, but what a difference! The engine's running super smooth now, no more jerking or hesitation when I hit the gas. It's like driving a completely different car. Funny thing is, while I was waiting at the shop, another guy came in with similar symptoms in his X5. The mechanic mentioned these injection issues are pretty common in our engines after about 60k kilometers. Guess I'm not alone! Thanks again for pointing me in the right direction. Really saved me from potentially bigger problems down the road. Now I can finally enjoy driving without worrying about every little engine problem!

Let our mechanics help you!
