Thanks for sharing your experience! Had my car serviced just last week at 46300 KM and the connectivity issues started right after. Tried the basic stuff like removing all paired devices and doing a system restart, but no luck. The software version is the latest one, they updated it during the service. Actually wondering if the update might have triggered these problems. Getting really frustrated with it since I rely heavily on hands-free calling for work. Interesting that you mention the module reprogramming, will definitely look into that. Did your workshop mention if this is a known issue with our models? Really appreciate the help!
Hey again! Yeah, that timing definitely sounds suspicious, issues starting right after the service and software update. You know what's funny? Almost the exact same thing happened to my X5 too! The problems started after a routine service where they did a software update. From what I learned when dealing with my issue, sometimes these updates can mess with the connectivity module's programming, especially in our BMW X models. It's like the module gets confused with the new software and needs a proper reset to play nice again. One thing I forgot to mention in my previous reply, before going to the workshop, I actually tried disconnecting the car battery for about 30 mins to force a complete system reset. Didn't work for me, but some guys at my workshop said it helps sometimes. Worth a shot maybe? But honestly, given that this started right after the service, I'd take it back to them. They should sort this out free of charge since it's likely related to their update. When I had my module reprogrammed, the tech guy mentioned they'd seen several cases like this, particularly after software updates. Let me know how it goes, really curious if it's the same root cause as mine. These modern cars, right? Sometimes I miss the old-school stereos that just worked!
Thanks for all that detailed info! You've actually made me feel a lot better knowing I'm not the only one dealing with this post-update drama. I'll definitely try that battery disconnect trick tonight, nothing to lose at this point, right? But you're absolutely right about taking it back to the service center. Just called them and explained everything, including what you shared about the module reprogramming. They've agreed to take a look tomorrow morning and admitted they've seen similar cases lately. Hopefully, they'll sort it under warranty since their update probably caused this mess. Really appreciate you taking the time to share your experience, saved me a lot of headache trying to figure this out on my own. Will probably update this thread once it's fixed in case anyone else runs into the same problem. These high-tech features are great when they work, but man, they can be a pain when they don't! Thanks again for all your help!
Hey there! I have some experience with cars and had a very similar issue with my 2017 BMW X5 last summer. The Bluetooth system went completely crazy, couldn't pair devices, unusual disconnections, the works. I took it to my trusted workshop after trying the basic reset stuff myself. Turns out the connectivity module needed a complete reset and reprogramming because it wasn't properly pairing with devices anymore. It was a quick fix, took about an hour and cost me 45 Euro. Been working perfectly since then. For me, this was way better than messing around with it myself and potentially making things worse. The X series seems to have these quirks sometimes, my with an X3 had similar issues too. Could you share if you've tried any fixes already? Also, what software version is your system running? That info would help me give more specific advice based on my experience.
