Thanks for sharing your experience! I've been dreading taking it to the dealership, but it sounds like that might be my best bet. Quick question, do you remember roughly how much you ended up paying for the whole repair? Also, has everything stayed working properly since then, or have you noticed any other quirks with the system?

Hey again! Glad to give you an update on my experience. Yeah, I bit the bullet and had it fixed, cost me 815 Euro at the dealership, which wasn't cheap, but honestly, it was worth every penny. The entire infotainment system needed work, just like I mentioned before. Since getting it sorted, the hands-free system has been working like a charm, crystal clear calls, no connection issues, nothing. It's been such a relief! Haven't had a single problem with any part of the system since the repair. My passengers can hear me perfectly now, and I'm no longer struggling with that frustrating mic problem. The best part is I don't have to fumble around with my phone while driving anymore. Really makes you realize how much you rely on these features when they're not working right! Trust me, even though dealership prices can be steep, sometimes they're the only ones with the right tools and know-how to fix these complex systems properly. If you're still on the fence about getting yours fixed, I'd say go for it, the peace of mind is worth it.

Thanks for the detailed feedback! After hearing about your success with the dealership repair, I finally took my X6 in last week. The experience was actually better than I expected. Turns out my issue was also related to the control module, but thankfully it just needed a firmware update and some minor repairs to the mic assembly, came in at around 600 Euro, so not as bad as I feared. They had it done in two days, and I've been testing it extensively since then. The hands-free system is working perfectly now, making calls is smooth again, and everyone can hear me clearly. Such a relief not having to deal with that frustration anymore! Definitely appreciate you pushing me towards the dealership route. It's one of those cases where paying a bit more for proper expertise made all the difference. Thanks again for sharing your experience, it really helped me make the right decision!

Hey there! I had a similar issue with my 2019 BMW X5 40i last year. The hands-free system completely stopped working, same symptoms as yours, couldn't make calls, and when connected, no audio output from my side. Turned out it wasn't just the mic, the entire infotainment control module had failed. At first, they tried replacing just the microphone assembly, but that didn't solve it. The technician eventually found that moisture had damaged the main control unit. It was a serious repair that required replacing the entire iDrive controller and reprogramming the system. Took about three days at the dealership because they had to order specific parts. Since the fix, everything's been working perfectly. Your issue sounds very similar to what I experienced, and given the error codes you mentioned, I'd strongly suggest having it checked at a BMW dealership rather than a general mechanic. This kind of problem usually needs specialized diagnostic tools and expertise. Let us know what you find out.
